Gillian Telling Reveals Sex Secrets Audra: You know the saying “Men are from Mars Women are from Venus,” right? Well now, one that sex columnist has her own take on that matter. Lesley found out why she's writing about all of our dirty little secrets. Joe levy: We’re well-known for our pictures. But the secret weapon of Maxi Maxim is always going to hear, always. And that’s what Gillian is so great at. That’s what she’ll great about her book. Lesley: Gillian Telling is Maxim Magazine sex columnist. Gillian Telling: From Maxim, I told the editor there, the sex column should be the truth about women, what men don’t know about women. And they went for it and the readers just love it. And so, it’s not a collection of the columns at all, but it inspired by that. Lesley: In her new book “Dirty Girls” Gillian reveals how women act just as bad as men when nobody is watching. Gillian Telling: It’s going to make you laugh. Basically, it’s a humor book. And you will see yourself in the pages. You’ll sit there and be like, oh my God, that’s so true. Nobody has ever had the guts to say this out loud before but I did. Female: I just think that we've been sort of culturally encouraged not talk about it as much as men have. Male: Once you get behind closed doors, it’s like it all comes out. Gillian Telling: It’s about our secrets, what we talk to girls about, things in bed, what we like, what we don’t like, things that we kind of just don’t really talk to guys about at all. Lesley: So is this for men or more for women? Gillian Telling: It’s for women. Each chapter has a section that says, “Have your man read this please.” So if you want your guy to know you're dirty secrets, you can leave it up to read that or if you don’t, you can just keep it to really hidden. Male: I think men and women will both enjoy it. They’ll both find it really funny, really smart and kind of sexy. Female: Let's be honest. We all have that inner dirty girl. Gillian Telling: Yeah, I do think women can be very dirty. We've got a whole bunch of hidden gross secrets as girls. Lesley: Now what kind of dirty we’re talking about here? Gillian Telling: Well, we’re not just as polish and perfect as we are. We try to come off as we -- Lesley: I think we both come out pretty polish right now. What do you think? We love it. We clean up well. So what does her new hubby think about it all. Josh Dean: I'm very excited about the book. How can I not be? I'm excited to publish the book. And it’s not that embarrassing for me. Gillian Telling: He hasn’t read the book, yet. He split it through a couple of parts of it and then he put it down and he was like, “I don’t want to know.” because there are lot of personal stories in there. I'm 30, in my early 30s now. a lot of them are my colleagues exploits in my 20s. So I tell him that’s in the past honey don’t worry about it now. Lesley: Do you ever get sick about talking about sex? Gillian Telling: Sometimes I get sick about writing about it because there's only so many words you can use to say sex and doing it and you don’t want to be rated or crude but they know. I mean, I just think its fun and funny and so I don’t get sick talking about it too much. Lesley: So what's the number one question that men ask you? Gillian Telling: Men ask me -- a lot of times they ask me whether women actually cheat, whether they lie because a lot of men believe that women never ever do. And I have to tell them that yes some of them do. Not all of them of course. Lesley: Now what's the number question that women ask you? Gillian Telling: Women don’t really ask me questions. They just sit around and talk to me, tell me all their filthy stories and then I take them and I compile them and put it magazines and books.
