Julia Conover: If you enjoy mixing a little bit of city life and a variety of activities with your ski holiday, then spring is the ideal time of year to visit the Lake Geneva region.
Female 1: It’s beautiful.
Julia Conover: Only a two hour drive from Verbier, the lake is surrounded by cosmopolitan cities and quaint villages. And no matter which you choose for your home base, nothing will be too far away.
Mark Jennings: Lake Geneva’s three main cities all lay on the Swiss side of this crescent shaped body of water. Montreux, Lausanne and Geneva. Driving along this side of the lake will take you pass to historic castles through the narrow streets of ancient villages, by vineyard covered hillsides and finally into her sophisticated namesake city, Geneva.
Julia Conover: In Geneva, those ready for some pampering have the choice of fine hotels, walks along the picturesque quays or touring the shoreline by boat.
Mark Jennings: At the train station, you can rent bicycles and ride on lakefront paths to several historic small villages. For a different prospective on the region, consider an aerial view. Hot air balloon trips are offered in several spots around the lake. Wow! Hey its’ getting more and more dramatic as we go.
Another popular excursion either by bike or car takes you into the countryside just outside of Geneva. The much of Switzerland is covered by the Alps. There’s a low laying range worthy of a visit. The Jura Mountains are among the oldest in Europe and home to some of Switzerland’s finest vineyards. Here you can indulge in wine tasting at centuries old family run establishments. They’re often found in tiny villages that are challenge to find on the mount.
Male 1: The differences in this village, it’s not a big one. It’s a very small thing. We have only one hundred and twenty people living permanently here and in this village we have one café restaurant where we can eat and drink of course and six wineries. For that’s great. We can enjoy the wine everyday and in a different place if you like. And all the wineries are open welcoming visitors. So you can enjoy and sample the wines in the parks and -- I think that it’s people are very friendly.
Mark Jennings: Driving along the French side of the lake, you’ll reach Evian famous for its natural spring water and its golf course.
Female 1: We can see the lake from every hole, It’s avery nice course.
Mark Jennings: Well, once again Julia out drove me but what the heck. In a place this beautiful, you just put your ego aside and roll in it.
Julia Conover: From all the Passport Tour Adventure team here in Switzerland, thanks for joining us and we’ll look forward to seeing you from another exotic corner of the globe.
