Goggles Gear Tips for Skiing and Snowboarding
Hi! I'm Ramona Bruland with your Gear Tip and today, we’re going to talk about goggles and how to maintain the best visibility while on the mountain. Let’s start with lenses, shall we? Lots of different colors out there to choose from, snowy days and flat light days, you want a lens that you can see the wear is eye straight, typically yellow, orange or rose in color. Night skiing, a clear lens is always best for your visibility and then on sunny days, what you want a lens that reflects the light the most. These are often silver or mirrored in color, rainbow. It maybe oily looking and again, now on sunny day lenses, you shouldn’t be able to see the wearer’s eyes through the lens because they’re heavily reflected, best for sunny days.
Goggles are very well engineered and not going to fog. Now if they do fog, could be one of that couple of things. First, check that your vents are clear. Maybe, you took big stack and it’s all this snow just packs in the vents so clear them up if you got snow in your vent. Now, as part of the lens, we get lots of snow in them. Well, that’s easy. goggle bags are designed to wipe off the outside of the lens or you an buy a lens cloth, get more of a squidgy material great for wiping that excess moisture on the outside of your lens.
Whatever you do, don’t touch the inside of your lens. Though the goggle comes from the factory with an anti-fog fill in the inside, as soon as you start rubbing that, well they’re just going to stop fogging up every time you get on the mountain. Now, if your goggle lens is all fogs, go inside, put the them under a hand drive, put them on a heater until they dry up themselves. Do not touch the inside of your lens. And finally, my favorite one, goggles are designed to be overlapping your beanie at the top so they want to see it when your face comfortably like this with your beanie tucked in. If you don’t, you end up with a little bit of this action, huh? So, we put a gaper to gap, you can tell if people at the back at night who’d been wearing gaper gaps all day by the red moon-shaped sunburn on their foreheads.
Goggles are designed to be tucked into the beanie so wear them that way. That way that they can do what they do best, dent and not fog up so you would enjoy your time in the mountain. For Plum TV, I'm Ramona Bruland and that was your goggle Gear Tip for today.
