Now this is our last lesson on the full swing and on woods. So we have to dedicate a bit of it towards transfer. Okay, on the right foot work. You want to be a good dancer, and you want to have good rhythm, the legs must follow the steps correctly. So we are going to do something similar for the golf swing. Now both of you, you have had your troubles over these last few lessons with footwork, not too bad now, but there are still two basic things going on. First with Ruth, let's take the ladies first, when she is swinging back, she is the left heel off the ground too much, she is getting up there like that, not having any balance, the equilibrium is wrong, okay.
So Ruth, be very careful please, when you swing back, this is what it should look like, coming back here, just lift the heel a tiny bit, just a tiny bit, and the knee comes into towards the right leg like that, and all the weight is on that foot, okay, not out here. Did you remember what you were doing a little earlier, you were getting like that, you see, and this throws you completely out.
Okay, so that's what it's going to look like here, there, I like that okay. Some golfers even keep the heel on the ground, but for you I would prefer that you just lift it up a little bit.
And what's happening with you Remy, is the other side on your follow through, the tendency to get a little bit stiff here. Now, this is what I want you do, and how I want you to concentrate.
First of all, Ruth, you are going to practice, in fact, you both can, but Ruth particularly, you are going to practice half swings doing this. I am stopping there, and just constantly looking at your position. Look, at this point you should be able to have the weight on that foot like that, okay, and this one here just barely in there, okay, see the difference. Okay, Ruth, you are going -- and that's giving you much too much problem with your equilibrium, okay, balance, very good.
Okay, so there we practice just like that. Now quickly for the return, and this where Remy has got to concentrate. We do the transfer here now, we will return on to the left foot. The left foot now takes all the weight, the right foot comes up, the knee bends, and we finish in this position here, nicely on the toe, knee pointed towards the target, and practically all the weight on the left side. So now, let me get you to watch just from here below, just watch the lower half of the body, this is what it should look like. There we are on the back swing, we are coming down now, we pass the way, and up here on to the toe, look at that now, I am turning on the outside of my left foot, that will natural, don't think about it.
Knee towards the target, and perfect balance one more time, and you will find that the hips will turn perfectly naturally, don't have to think about turning your hips at all. Your shoulders, make sure that the hips follow, okay, don't worry about that. So watch now, one, two, okay. You understand this, is it all clear? Watch carefully, I'll try to do that in slow motion for you okay, watch again, okay, and look where I am, perfect balance at the end of the swing.
Who's turn? Ruth, great, absolutely great, you are pleased with that, aren't you? me too, good. Now this is the best bit of being pro, when you see all these beautiful shots going, and just a few weeks ago you weren't hitting at the ball at all. Hey, look at this Remy, isn't that good? Now the only thing here, look, you were so happy, you were so pleased with the shot, you didn't bother to hold your finish. May I just show you one thing? Now, get yourself lined up, okay, when you hit the ball, you come through here like this, pose this finish for me for 2 whole seconds, okay? 1, 2 okay, it will make you have really good balance and a bit of style too, okay.
There you are you are so happy, you hit the ball, you didn't bother. I was pleased with the shot, not too pleased with the balance at the end. So one more please. This time, good shot or bad, we are going to have a lovely finish.
Fantastic, I am proud of you, superb. Remy, would you like to do some practice now please? Okay, well for Remy and Ruth, and for you back home, with just one more week of practice before we get down to the short game, lot of new things to show you. So I look forward to being with you next week, please join us.
