When I think about green in Hawaii, I think about the Kohala coast. The green golf courses that are living their way throughout the black lava, they just popped. My name is Parker McLachlin. Well I started golfing when I was eight years old and I have been playing professionally now for four years. Growing up in Hawaii was just fantastic and I always love going out on the beach, get in the water.
I really miss the smell of the air, the sweet smell of it. The Kumera flowers and the second you step off to playing it was like, Oh, man I miss being here. This golf is unique in Hawaii. You have got trade winds, you have got breathtaking views. The scenery here is just unmatched anywhere in the world. You have got some lava courses; you have got some courses by the water, you get some courses in the mountains, and you are going to get a new experience each time you go out and play.
So, the first place I ever got a hole in one was that up to the golf course on the big island. I had a nice wedge, about 135 yards. It was uphill so I was not able to actually see it going the hole but we looked in the hole and there it was, right at the bottom of the cup. I think golf really does give me a sense of peace. It is a sanctuary for me to be out in the golf course. I cannot imagine what I do if I was not golfing but if I had to, I think I would probably be a professional board surfer.
