Hey everybody! It’s Rich Brooks of flight new media. We’re web design in internet marketing company located in Portland Main and on the web at www.flight.biz.
Today, we’re going talking about traffic ports specifically google analytics. Now, the reason one of the reason why you probably want to have a traffic ports of your web site is to get a better understanding of how people are finding your web site. That information will allow you to create a better web site that will try to be even more qualified needs.
So one of the things you want to do on the google analytics is check out the traffic sources. From the dashboard, you can use check on traffic sources in the navigation and see a bunch of different options.
Google Analytics breaks down traffic sources into three direct three categories. Direct traffic, which are the people who type in new URL or have bookmark to URL or for following in e-mail newsletter link from an e-mail program a desktop e-mail program like Outlook. Referring sites are sites that linked to you when people click on the link to your web site and they come to your web site, that’s a referral and finally, the search engines. What traffic is coming from the search engines? And you can see right here from the breakdown of our own pie chart that were going to get about 57% of our traffic to the search engines, referring sites make up about 31% and about a little more than 11% directly typing in our information.
We can click on direct traffic and we can get a little more information about what that’s, what that traffic is liking over the last month we can see a spike here on Tuesday, February 3rd and that actually came from an e-mail newsletter was sent out that there. We can check out the referring sites and see which sites were linked in o us. And you might notice at images.google.com and images.google.com.coast.in seem to be search engine results but because there are the images search google organizes them as a referral and not actually as a search result but as we go down, we can see where traffic’s coming from, from other web sites such as working on our number two resources, the flight blog or our own blog that’s not a different URL.
Thus, company where I blog is set to 78 visitors last month also a blog that web write over main to day stumble upon twitter so these are all different web sites. A lot of which are social media sites sending traffic towards flight.biz.
Now the thing that everybody is interested in is how they’re doing at the search engines. So we can see the break down of the search engines by search engine right here and you can see that google is giving us just an incredible number of visits especially compared to the other search engines and that you can change the view and switch over the percentage and we can see that google is almost to full moon when it comes to delivering search engine traffic to flight. We might want to take a look at this and say we’ll watch what we’ll doing different at yahoo or AOL or live to drive more traffic from those search engines.
Another thing that you’re going to be interested in is the key words. What are the words your visitors are searching for at google and at yahoo, and MSN to drive at least at your web site and so here we see the top lines how to use twitter for business, how this twitter work, so a lot of twitter theme topics in the last month using twitter for business.
As I scroll down I also see some other once either driving business tour web sites such as web design port folio, setting up the web page, setting up a web site. Sometimes you might want to go through your long rales and find things even if they’re not exactly the same fine things like setting up web site questions to ask before setting up the web site or whatever it’s right for your business and start creating new content around some of those topics.
Well that’s it for taking look at the traffic reports today. You can certainly get some good ideas on how to look through your traffic reports and see where your traffics coming from and then making improvement based on those results.
