Graduation Party Menu Ideas
Female1: Many kids are graduating high school and even college so why not reward their hard work and accomplishments with a party that they’ll never forget. Entertaining expert Heather Christo is here with some unique twists on throwing a terrific graduation party that any teen will be proud of.
Female2: Thanks.
Female1: Welcome!
Female2: Thank you.
Female1: Now, this is quite a spread you have here.
Female2: Well, it can be a fun and easy thing to put together for your kids. I'm just using place on color and texture and patter to really bring old favorites ham with a new twists.
Female1: And you’re giving some of teens favorites maybe from childhood so they will love it as well.
Female2: That is right, that is right. So, here is a plate on soup and sandwiches. We’ve got a mini panini’s cooked here, ham gouda, onion jam, heirloom tomato, basil and mozzarella. Kids can pick them up off the buffet and walk around. And here we have got soup shooters.
Female1: These are so adorable, I've seen dessert shooters, I have never seen soup shooters before.
Female2: I think it really encourages your guests to take more than one, try different flavors and they’re so cute that even kids are going to be interested and these are veggie soup and this time kids are eating veggie soup. We’re all happy, right.
Female1: Yeah. We’re all happy. You just use little shot glasses.
Female2: Shot glasses that is right, cherry glasses, anything one to three ounces and it is a great serving.
Female1: Now, what party is complete without a veggie tray?
Female2: Right so these have actually become my two party staples. They are always popular. We have got veggies and dip and a cheese potter. So here, I just used different types of proteus. I sliced them really thinly for a different type of presentation and a healthy spicy red pepper dip.
Female1: That looks amazing. The asparagus, I love that idea. You wouldn’t think to put that on a veggie tray but it is so good.
Female2: Yeah, blanched, it’s very sweet and the colored cauliflower.
Female1: Yeah, I thought you dyed those.
Female2: No.
Female1: You can buy them like that?
Female2: That’s right. I think if people just open their eyes in the proteus, you’ll be shocked by what you found.
Female1: Yeah. You usually just skip over all that fun stuff.
Female2: Right, right so keep an open mind.
Female1: And the cheese tray here actually looks wonderful as well. it looks very different and unique.
Female2: Thank you. I think it is great to use a selection of cheeses so there is something for everybody. I usually like three to five. We’ve got four here and everything else on the cheese potter is just really a compliment to the cheeses. We have got fried fruits, toasted nuts, and an apple mosaic here. And then kind of most exciting way is the honeycomb in the center which most guests are shocked and odd by and it is delicious. You just scoop up a little bit with your cheese.
Female1: I did not even know you could buy that—at the grocery store?
Female2: It is pretty easy to find, usually next to the peanut butter yeah.
Female1: Wow that is very cool. Now, back here, no party is simply about dessert and these are adorable. I love this.
Female2: Thank you. I think most people like to celebrate with a cake, I do, but in addition, think about doing little petite desserts. It’s kind of a fun extra and guests usually really enjoy them.
Female1: Yeah, they look delicious.
Female2: We’ve just got chocolates and mini fruit salads, kind of whatever works for you just to make it little.
Female1: And you got to have a signature drink, no party is—
Female2: That is right.
Female1: And tell us about this.
Female2: For all the kids out there that are not yet of drinking, it is kind of fun to have a non-alcoholic drink and I just bought these bottles in packaging supply store, filled them with fresh fruit and mint and soda water and it is refreshing fruit soda.
Female1: It is delicious.
Female2: Yeah.
Female1: And then a favorite for the party guests.
Female2: That is right. So, kind of a sweet something for afterwards, a sugar cookie, it’s my grandma’s recipe and I just iced it and put the year that these kids are graduating kind of school colors sweet treat.
Female1: Beautiful. Thank you so much for all the great tips.
