Female Speaker: California's Napa Valley, just 30 miles long and 5 miles wide. It is home to more than 300 wineries. But not everyone who visits comes looking for a glass of Napa's fine wines.
The Spa industry is thriving in Napa too, and now the valley's spas are offering a new varietal. A robust blend of mud and grape seeds.
Peggy Smith: I am going to be gently exfoliating your body, and then putting the crushed grape seed mud all over your body.
Female Speaker: A medium or low for your body. Some Shiraz on your shoulders. It may all sound a bit well fruity. But there are some health and beauty benefits. According to therapist Peggy Smith.
Peggy Smith: Well, the grape seed is a slightly grainy, so as we are applying it, the grape seed gently exfoliates skin.
This is a French clay, and it's infused with grape seeds from the Napa Valley.
Female Speaker: The mud also tightens and tones the skin. At least that's the claim.
Peggy Smith: Alright, let's have you lay back down. Thank you!
Female Speaker: After being covered with the grape seed mud, guests are wrapped in warm blankets.
Peggy Smith: I call this the Spa Burrito. Are you comfortable?
Female Speaker: Eventually the cocooning must come to an end.
Peggy Smith: Chris when you are ready I'd like you to sit up please.
Female Speaker: Then it's into the shower, where the mud washes right off and grape seed goes down the drain with it. The result?
Chris: My skin feels soft, smooth.
Female Speaker: A helpful pursuit or a marketing gimmick. However you see it, you have to admire the versatility of the fruit, of the wine.
