Grooming Tips for Dogs

Hi, I am Leslie and welcome to WatchMojo.com. Today, we are going to be talking about grooming with my co-stars Loca and Palmer. Now, grooming is something that it is very important for all breeds of dogs. No matter what kind of dog you have. You matter what sizes, grooming is something you really have to take into account. Now you can generally find in an expensive groomer in your area. Not every groomer needs to be over $100.00. In fact, I found a great groomer in my area that just $40.00 and you can too. So it is very important that you do that if you cannot take care of the grooming yourselves. And very often, if you are very good in continents pet owner, grooming is something that becomes a little too difficult especially in the case for example of Loca and Palmer. They are both part poodle and they both have very thick undercoats. And the great news about them is they are hypoallergenic. So therefore, grows and grows and grows. The bad news is they are first grows and grows and grows. So you really have to do something about that, not even necessarily for you, but for them. You will notice under Loca’s arms, she has a lot of hair. And if you do not cut the hair here, she will get a little dread logs under her arm pets. I do not know about you, but I will like to be walking around with little dread logs under my arm pets. Now here are some things that you can do at home and then you should always be doing even if you do take your dog to a groomer. You always want to be brushing their feet. I know you are saying to herself, I do not want to stick my hand in my dog’s mouth. That is why it is important when they are puppies to teach them about soft biting. You will notice Loca. I can put my entire hand and fist Loca. She won’t, she just won’t. So when dogs are thought as puppy that human skin is something fragile, they will not bite you. She might get a little aggressive and try and bite the toothbrush, but she is not going to hurt you. And it is not something you need to do often, but it is something that is important to do on a fairly regular basis. And another thing that is great it would help with tooth maintenance is you can feed your dog. I feed my dog their regular food is a high and pure brand. I get from veterinarian. But I mix it in with a third of another brand that I got from my veterinarian. It is good for teeth care. There are also some good brands of teeth cleaning, little bones and stuff. But I like I said, even if you do that it is still really good to brush your dog’s teeth. Now what else. You should have a brush at home. No, not a human brush, special doggy brush that goes over there hair and generally if you start doing this when dogs are puppies, they learn to like brushing. They will find it very, very sonic and that is something great that you can do and you can help to keep their hair from getting nodded in between visits to the groomer. You should not have to go to the groomer more than once every six weeks even if you have a dog whose hair grows very, very quickly. Another thing that I would really recommend is when your dog is a puppy, teach them that it is okay to take a bath. Teach them that it is not that you do not need to be afraid of water. Some of you may find this disturbing, but when I need to wash my dogs, I just clap hands when I am in the shower. They jump in. I shampoo my hair and then shampoo that. So, I mean if dogs thoughts from a young age that is not something they need to be afraid off. They would not be afraid of it. Generally, dogs who really have a big problem with water it is because they have about experience with it or they just never got and use to it. So just to radiate, it is very important to take your dog to the groomer. It does not need to be expensive, but in the interim while you are not taking your dogs to the groomer, you can do some a keep yourself by brushing your dogs. Brushing the dog’s teeth and you can even clean their ear little. Although, I would say, use a cotton ball. Do not go in there with a Q-tip because like with human ears, you can do damage. You do not know how far you are going to go. So I think those are some things that are great and you can do in between and they do everything at groomer these days. And if you start your dog early, then they would not be afraid and that would be great and you can have good dogs with hockey summer haircuts like Palmer and Loca. This has been Leslie at WatchMojo.
