Everybody this is Bryan Helmick from betweenthelicks.com. Here to give you guys another free guitar lesson. And today, I am going to talk about of playing some slow Blues licks. We will be using some chord shapes, to kind of spice it up, so, I just playing on the Pentatonic or Blues Scale. Even though, it sounds really nice, it is really effective and sometimes you want to get it off of that.
So, what we are going to do is use a jam track from a new featured added to the site, the jam corner, and basically use that tracks to practice over in the sense and it is called Slow Blues in G. And all you have to do is go to the site and check it out and there is full tabs for all these licks to, so do not let that confuse you when you do not see exactly what I am playing, full tabs are at the site and I really encourage you to go to check that out. So here we go.
The jam track is actually kind of slow
(Guitar Demo)
And now with a really kind of a looping bass line,
(Guitar Demo)
But unfortunately, I cannot play it well during this for my set up. So, I am just going to show you some licks that you would play over the chords. So, let us say, the G chord, I chord, you would want to pick something out that maybe featured the 3rd to kind of move it away from that Minor 3rd sound on the Pentatonic or Blues Scale, just make it little tastier, so here we go
(Guitar Demo)
And that little is a 3rd it is kind of a bar shape, so that is for your G. And what you want to do when you move up to your 7th is maybe feature your 3rd and your 7th okay? What we are going to do is bend up here on the C chord, we are going to start on the C we are going to just bend that really quick it goes
(Guitar Demo)
And then just hit that 3rd and then go(demo), and bend that 6th it goes
(Guitar Demo)
It is really tasty that have over that chord.
And then
(Guitar Demo)
You can always go up and grab the octave which sounds really nice in buttoning. So come on back to that G, maybe you want to use something like this 6th, the timing give it a little more color. Alright, so it goes
(Guitar Demo)
And what I am doing there is have on that 6th and then bending on Minor 3rd up to the Major 3rd. So, kind of give us a nice taste of both sides, the minor 3rd and the Major 3rd, so there is another thing you can do.
So, after you are done with the G again, and you moving up to the D and the C that basically kind of rap it up. Maybe you want to stick to something like the 3rd and 7th, give it up a little more flavor. So, this is like I came up of that
(Guitar Demo)
It has a little turn around real quick there and basically I am just pointing the 3rd to 7th for the D and then the 3rd and the 7th for the C, okay, and that little to get to the G again, to finish off the track and you can grab that octave which is all it sounds, good.
So, I hope you enjoy this, get the full tabs for all these licks and try them over top of the jam track and try some other jam tracks and then head over to the forum. Let me know what you what you think. Which you like to see, which you like to hear and I will give all my best as I can. So anyways, hope you all have a great day and take care.
