Hi! I am Bob from Toronto, Canada. This guitar lesson is with hammer ons and pull-offs, and how they can improve your overall sound. Hammer on and pull-offs are important, because one, it would be too difficult to pick every note, and two, playing every note would create a really cluttered and sloppy sound. Here I will show you. This is playing the notes and picking every note.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Heard the notes come out a little sloppy sounding and cluttered because of the picking? This is hammer on and pull-offs.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Hear how the difference? It is a lot clear with the hammer on and pull-offs. Here is an exercise you can do to improve your hammer on and pull-offs. On the 1st string play the 1st fret, 2nd fret, and 4th fret. Play them on and off with the hammer on your pull offs like this.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Then go to the 2nd fret, 4th fret, and 5th fret and do the same.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Also do the same on all the strings going up.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Then practice it in various places on the guitar like so [Guitar Demonstration].
Also, to strengthen you fingers, play the same hammer on exercises on an acoustic guitar for about 10 minutes before you play an electric, like so.
[Guitar Demonstration]
That should strengthen your fingers a lot more.
I hope this lesson has been helpful with your guitar playing, and if you have any questions please message me. So, here are more examples.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Goodbye for now.
