Hi. I am Bob from Toronto, Canada. I have a lot of people send me questions to vote Hammer ons and Pull Offs and how they are not getting good strong sound. So, in this video I will try to clear it up or how to get a good strong sounds with the Hammer Ons and Pull Offs.
Well, first thing you need to do is give the hammer on a good hit, a good distance from the fret board to your finger. Or get at least, an inch or an inch in a half. If you are hammering on and pulling off to close, you are not going to get a very sound. So, give it a good swing right far back.

Like so, as suppose to

Any difference?
You have to hit it down. Hit it down really hard.
[Demonstration]
And the second thing is to hammer on and pull off a little sideways as suppose you just going straight up and down. If you are going to straight up and down and you are doing it wrong. I will demonstrate here is straight up and down.
[Demonstration]
Hear that, it is almost nothing a good sound. And here is the pulling sideways after I hit.
[Demonstration]
So, what we are trying to do is after you hit the string, go down and pull off. Pull off to the side a little bit. Almost like a check mark. Down off to the sides, so down and off to the side, down and off. Pull it, you got to pull it, pull the string. It is like almost playing in loop.
[Demonstration]
The third thing is that you have to develop strength in your fingers. That’s way to do that is to practice hammer ons and pull offs under an acoustic guitar. Try practicing on different parts of the guitar different frets up and down, and on different strings.
So, practice for awhile on the acoustic guitar. Play it for like 10 minutes at least. Then try it on the electric guitar. So, hopefully that helps to with the hammer ons and pull offs and thanks for watching.
