Hi. I am Bob from Toronto, Canada. This guitar lesson is about playing fast runs on the guitar, like this.
[Demonstration]
First thing you need to do is to get some sandpaper and file down the end of your guitar pick like this.
[Demonstration]
That will help the guitar pick grab on to the string better. First exercise, what we will play in a D blues scale.
[Demonstration]
Play that scale but ascending in thirds, like this.
[Demonstration]
Play it slowly at first and as you play, emphasized a note that lands on the beat.
[Demonstration]
(Counting) One, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three,
[Demonstration]
And as you get more comfortable, pick up the phase.
[Demonstration]
But pick up the phase a little bit at a time and only when comfortable, pick up the phase. You can also play the diminished scale as well, like this.
[Demonstration]
You figure the diminished scale just by any note and move up III frets.
[Demonstration]
Those are the notes of diminished scale. Also, you can play the harmonic minor scale in Dm, like so.
[Demonstration]
Play that in III as well. (Counting) one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three.
[Demonstration]
For more on the harmonic minor scale, check out my video on YouTube called “playing the heavy metal scale. Also, do not forget to descend on the scale as well, like this.
[Demonstration]
And remember, practice, practice, practice, and practice slowly. And speed will come eventually. I hope this lesson has been helpful and if they have any questions. Please message me.
