Hi, everyone. It is Bobby Crispy. This guitar lesson is we have to play some new Metallica from the Death Magnetic CD, how to play the intro to “The Day That Never Comes”. I will show how to play both guitar lines and the intro.
Okay, the first guitar line, I will play it first and then I will show how to play it. So it sounds like this.
[Demonstration]
The way you play that, hold down the bottom three strings with your finger through the whole time like that and you play the third string, fourteenth fret; second string, thirteenth fret and you are already holding down the bottom string, at the twelfth fret there like that. So that is an A Minor, play it like,
[Demonstration]
And then just open up like that, hold down the bottom three strings that is in E Minor and you play it like,
[Demonstration]
The next chord is E Major with a G and you play the third string, at the twelfth fret so you hold down there like that. The second string, fifteenth fret with your pinky. The bottom string,, fourteenth fret like that and just play it like,
[Demonstration]
And you go back to the first chord which is the A minor and the first string, like that.
[Demonstration]
So let us play it again slowly.
[Demonstration]
You play that six times.
Now for the other, now for guitar riff, this time I will play it again and then I will show how it is played so it goes like this.
[Demonstration]
Like that. Let us take the distortion out so that you can hear it better. Start off in the second string, third fret; slide up to the fourth fret.
Go to the third string, second fret; slide up to the fourth fret and to the fourth string, fifth fret.
Back to the third string,, back to the second string, third fret; slide up to the fifth fret like that.
Third string, second fret; and again slide up to the fourth and back to the second fret and play that entire phase. So, it is;
[Demonstration]
Like that. And then, the same thing again, second string, third fret; slide up to the fifth fret like that, third string, second fret.
Slide up to the fourth fret; fourth string, fifth fret. Play the open third string, and then run to the second fret. Play it and slide up to the fourth fret.
Play it again and run and off on the fifth fret and start with your index finger when you do that, and then open string,, third string, again, you start with your ring finger and run to the second fret.
Play it again and slide up to the fourth fret. Play it again and run to the fifth. Play it again and pull off to the second fret. So that part again is,
[Demonstration]
Then, open string, on the third string,, run to the second fret.
Play it again and you move up to the fourth string, fifth fret; seventh fret; third string, fourth fret; fourth string, seventh fret; third string, fourth fret; fifth fret; fourth, fifth, seventh, fifth, fourth harmonic to the third, pull up to the fourth then slide up on the third string, to the fourth fret; fifth, seventh.
Second string, fifth, back to the third string, seventh fret; fifth, seventh fret to the second string, fifth fret; sixth, fifth, sixth, eighth. Finally bottom string, fifth fret; so ones again that part there.
[Demonstration]
Well, that is the lesson. I hope that was helpful and thanks for watching.
