Hi! I am Bob from Toronto, Canada. This guitar lesson is about finger tapping like so.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Finger tapping goes as far back as the early 70’s on the first Genesis albums, but it was popularized by Van Halen. The main benefit of finger tapping is that you can play a higher range of notes within a run more efficiently, here is an example. I will try to play these set of notes without finger tapping.

And now same thing with finger tapping.
[Guitar Demonstration]
It is a lot easier to play and more fluid sounding. The first exercise is simple. First, you will be doing all the finger tapping with your middle finger here, while holding a pick in your hand and you pick the note up like this.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Okay, the first exercise. Bottom string open fret 5th, 8th, 12th like so then on each string.
[Guitar Demonstration] Practice each exercise slowly at first then the speed will come later. The second exercise 5th fret, 8th fret, 12th fret over and over again and then faster.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Again on each string going up.
The third exercise is 5th fret, 8th fret, 12th then 8th playing chords faster.
[Guitar Demonstration]
Do not forget to pull up with your tapping finger like that.
The fourth exercise 1st string 7th, 10th, 12th then move down 6th, 9th, 12th move down again 5th, 8th, 12th and then 4th, 7th, 12th run them with the other like this --
[Guitar Demonstration]
Then later on faster.
[Guitar Demonstration]
The fifth exercise is hammer on’s like this. The 5th and 8th fret then while you are playing that hit the 12th.
[Guitar Demonstration]
And of course on each string, practice all these exercise slowly at first then fast. I also suggest on an acoustic guitar as you need to build up strength in your pinky finger, and the toughness on your tapping finger.
Well, I hope this lesson has been helpful and if you have any questions please message me. Bye for now.
