Hi. I am Bob from Toronto, Canada. This guitar lesson is about how to warm up properly before playing. As a guitar player, the last thing you want to do is to pick up a guitar and to start playing, especially if you go solo.
Just like in a sport, just to step on the field, start running around. He needs to warm up. Also, it helps you to become more focused when you play.
First you need to stretch your fingers, like so.
[Demonstration]
And like this. You do not have to stretch them too hard, just enough. Now, you notice that you fingers are a lot more flexible.
Next, play all the notes slowly in the first position.
[Demonstration]
Then, second position.
[Demonstration]
And on and on all the way up in the neck. You can also play the blues scale ascending in thirds.
[Demonstration]
And then to the second position, descending in thirds,
[Demonstration]
And so on, and so on, all the way up the neck. You can also practice as a warm up hammer ons and pull ups.
[Demonstration]
Again, all the way up the neck. If you can read music, I would suggest reading two pages as a warm up. Reading music is a great way of getting focused. Also, you can practice going from chord to chord, like so.
[Demonstration]
Also, as part of your warm up, also, picking are pugilists.
[Demonstration]
