What’s up! I’m Neal and we’re back here on the Guitar Tricks with your weekly lesson of the week and your tip of the week too right here. We are going to do some song writing, tips to follow up to our lesson Number 17 and a quick tip of the week right here.
So, right here I’m going to show you how to it quick little fun tips. Start sliding on the first string for an about the 2nd fret up to about the 15th fret.
[Demonstration]
And stop, and then I will go to the B string start on the 2nd fret and then slide up to the 12th fret and then back down a little bit so, its sounds like.
[Demonstration]
Putting together, and get a little cat call—our lesson right here is song writing continuation of lesson number 17. I’m going to show you two really popular patterns, this is a request from one of our YouTube users in tracks 4, 2, 0, 4, 1, 5 coming out you right here. We’re going to show you the box pattern. I like to call it the box pattern. I just made it up but it looks like a box. It uses the A, the C, the G and the D. So, here is one that might sound like.
[Demonstration]
Quick little pattern and playing right there and you can make it your own. Play it anyway you want. Deal with open chords, clean sound and I’m going to show you another really popular pattern right in here the 1, 4, 5 and the keys are A, D, and E. I’m using power chords you can use open chords, bar chords. So here is a little example for that.
[Demonstration]
I give you example of how different this can sound playing it clean the first pattern on the box pattern A, C, G and D. I’m going to do it with open chords with the clean sounds. You can hear how the same patterns and sounds completely different when you just change your sound or play it in a different position.
[Demonstration]
And here, you have different sounds already, exact same progression.
[Demonstration]
So, the 1, 4, 5, A, D and E. I will put the same example for you with open clean sound.
[Demonstration]
Let’s got a really familiar sound to it and that see I did because were not reinventing the wheel here. This pop songs have a formula to it and the formula keeps getting use over and over the key is to add on personality to it and your own style and lyrics are really important too. Now you can take that clean sound and you could use it along with a distorted sound in the same songs. You were creating this build this dynamic build and take it out.
[Demonstration]
So that’s it! Quickie! Check out episode 17 if you haven’t seen it yet on song writing and these two were go back together and you will have the whole tools that you can use. Anyway, we hope to see you back here in a week and come on by and leave a request on YouTube, Twitter, MySpace guitartricks.com in our forum. Have a rocking week, we will see you all back here really soon. Write something cool.
