Doc: This is the 2nd post op visit. And now that the drains are out and swelling start to becoming down now. We should start seeing scrapes and how the overall area is healing. How the stitching looks? How the drain site looks? He’s still wearing the compression garment that is going to be worn for at least 6 weeks, at least.
So also the patient is going to get a real impact now of how they're going to start to look. It’s a good and exciting time for them in May.
Sometimes we’ll change their garment this time because we want it tighter, more comfortable garment and that’s something we probably do, I think, as well. So this is post op appointment 2, and hopefully they look good.
Jerome: See, it’s been very good, the last couple of days. Since the last time I was here, that’s last Wednesday. It’s been very enlightening experience. I was just watching things as they settled in. and watching the difference and my body at the contour and I was taking shape and very impress. It’s very, very flat. Much flatter than it was. So it’s a dramatic change.
My expectation was this far exceeds my expectations.
Doc: Hey, Jerome.
Jerome: Hey, Doc.
Doc: How’s it going man?
Jerome: Very well. Much doing very well.
Doc: I like this homemade foam you got here, man. Why don’t you take everything off? How do you feel?
Jerome: I feel good. I feel really good.
Doc: Is there pain and stuff? Is it reasonable?
Jerome: Every now and then. Because I'm waiting off the drug.
Doc: Yeah, get off of that, Tylenol is good. You’re looking so dear, man.
Jerome: I know, I'm impressed. Let me sit. I'm impressed.
Doc: Looks really good. Here’s coming down.
Jerome: Yeah.
Doc: You got some fluids there though. Have you taken off the vest anytime?
Jerome: Yeah.
Doc: This is an example of fluid, as you see here. So you can see there's a wave in there. So what were going to do is take a needle in there, pull out some fluid. You got to wear that garment man, at all times.
Jerome: Okay.
Doc: You hadn’t been cheating have you?
Jerome: No.
Doc: You will tell the doctor now.
Jerome: Actually, you know what, I feel uncomfortable one night. I kind of took it off about an hour or two.
Doc: And when did that fluid come out.
Jerome: I can't really say. I notice it about two days ago.
Doc: You can tell the doctor the truth.
Jerome: Absolutely.
Doc: I'm here to help you.
Jerome: I don’t want to tell you any lie whatsoever.
Doc: No, not at all. God knows. You can't hide from him.
Jerome: That’s right.
Doc: I think we’ll going to fit you with a different garment too.
Jerome: That would be a wonderful thing. That one is so noticeable.
Doc: It’s noticeable and it’s just a lot more uncomfortable.
Jerome: Yeah.
Doc: The fluid is not a problem. It’s not going to be a long term problem at all. The only thing is, sometimes, it will take a few times of tapping this fluid out to get it to go away completely.
Relax now. Okay, little bit more swelling here in the area. And the fluid being there.
Jerome: It’s just that, I was sleeping in one side, I can't do that.
Doc: You can if you want.
Jerome: I'm trying to sleep on my side one night and it was just a little uncomfortable. I was thinking that’s where that fluid came from. So that’s what I was thinking about.
Doc: Sleeping on in that side, left side down?
Jerome: Yeah.
Doc: Sometimes, when you're sleeping on one side after surgery. The fluid will tend to pull on that side. But this is a well known complication after any kind of surgery that drains where the fluid accumulates after it is pulled out. And so, that side is going to be behind a little bit than this one. It will be the healing curve a little bit. Not anything substantial.
Jerome: As I was saying earlier, I'm just totally impressed at the overall result. It surpasses my expectation level.
Doc: Hopefully this springtime you’ll be out there.
Jerome: Yeah, I’ll be out there.
Doc2: This will be nice. So this one is to work for the next 5 weeks.
Jerome: Okay.
Doc2: You can have it off longer. Ideally, where the other one. Let me just put right over the top.
Okay, this should be real snuggly. See if we can get that zipper. Give it a little pull in the end. I know, they're tight.
It’s like a test, isn’t it?
Jerome: I can't get that.
Ddd2: Okay, now the other part that you like about this over the other one is that it goes up high in to the armpit. He wants it like that. So what you don’t want to do is you don’t want to pull it down and get it. I'm going to check just to make sure that this isn’t too much. Because it should be snug in as you're feeling down here. Should be that way all up in here.
Doc: It fits you pretty good man. I think your god. So, also keep this pull this down so it doesn’t give you wrinkles here. Alright man, see you then. You look good.
Ddd2: And no exercise. Don’t overdo with your arm. That often causes the swelling. Too much too soon. So even though they feel better, doctor says too much. So it’s a solid of 6 weeks of no exercise.
Jerome: Okay.
Doc: Patient’s look great. There are no bleeding whatsoever. What I really would like to see, because that’s what I see most often with this kind of aggressive treatment. The heirloom of shape look great, all the incisions were healing well. I was concerned about it at first because of this incision. But he’s healing beautifully. Still everything is swollen, we’re waiting for that to come down. I don’t want any other man to be too optimistic starting porking out or eating crazy too soon. But everything really looks good. I'm very pleased.
