HP MediaSmart Server EX487 Unboxing
Hey, Bruce Naylor your frugaltech here and we are un-boxing the HP MediaSmart EX487 Windows home server. This edition to our office in a while is to do several different things. But, primarily the ability has up to 9TB of storages. We’re going to kind of simplify our network a little bit. It’s got Remote Access and we’re going to combine this with the D-Link or the DIR-655 Wireless-N router.
So we’ll set aside about that then we thought we go ahead get this un-boxed. We go a good deal on it. They gave a $599.00 for it directly from HP. I got it within like two days. I even got free shipping on it. Check it out the HP EX487 MediaSmart Windows home server. So let’s go ahead and these opened up and let’s see it here. Here we go. Let us see. Anyway, what we’ve got is box that is pretty damn good. Here we go. Right!
HP really does a fantastic job of boxing. Here we go. I pull this out and this panel lifts off. I’m going to have to further probably the best thing to do is maybe turn this upside down and just so we can lift off. Here we go. All right! And it doesn’t seem to be with anything else in the box. I just down off away. And we’ve got this box here. I lift the Styrofoam retainers off.
You can see it’s not really big in it. Sometimes went off to the side and it will comes really well wrapped in the plastic. Here we go. And there it is, there is the whole unit right there. On the back, you have your power supply, your Ethernet port and the new—yeah, you have a one, two, three USB ports, did you say the port. I’ll build right in. So you see it’s not a very big unit at all and then we came with this box. Let’s open that up.
And there’s the Ethernet cable, power cord, software, a warranty manual, and a poster for SATA. Right here! Here we go and you can see the poster. And that is all that comes in the box. And I would say that this way is maybe somewhere around about 10 pound—10 to 12 pounds, something like that is very light. Hold that up to the camera. This is the back of the unit. There we go.
I’ll go ahead and open this. And there’s the drive base right there. The specs are comes with the 2 GHz Celeron processor, 2 Gigs of RAM is got two, two 750 GB drives. Inside has the capacity up to 9 TB all in all. Is the HP MediaSmart EX487 server $599.00 at HP’s website.
Now I don’t know if that was promotion is going to continue because the normal price is $749.00. You know what? I got free shipping on this and HP sites they said fives to seven days on the free shipping, I got in two days. It’s incredible. Check it out the HP MediaSmart Windows home server and I’m going to give you more information on this as we set it up and integrate with our small business network here at Frugal Brothers.
