Welcome to tinkernut.com's video podcast, if you have any questions, please email at admin@tinkernut.com. In this video, I am going to show you a possible method of getting free inbound calls using GOOG411, which is Google's free phone-based business directory.
You give them a call, and they can connect you to local businesses without charging you anything. So what you want to do is do a Google Search for Google Local Business, and click on the first result. That will take you to their local business center. And what you want to do is add yourself to the Google listings as a business, so that you are in their business directory, and they can connect people to you for free.
So just create a business name, and add your real address to it, and when it gets to the main phone number, you can either put in your real phone number if you don't mind that being listed, or you can go to inumbr.com and sign-up for a temporary phone number that can last you either from one hour up to one month, and then you have to enter in your real phone number.
If you don't want to do that, please read inumbr's terms of agreement, and see if you agree with them. If you don't, then you can't sign-up for this service. But once you click, I Agree, and Submit, it will give a you a phone number along with an extension that people can call to get to you. And then just enter that phone number minus the extension in the business directory information.
And another thing you are going to have to do is enter in a category for your business so that it makes it easier to find when people call GOOG411. So I am just going to put computer training school, and I am just going to leave the rest of this information blank and click Submit.
Now when it comes to validating it, you have no choice but to validate by postcard because the phone number won't really work with Google Service until validated. That's going to take about 2-3 weeks, but once you have that validated, you should be in Google's listings, worldwide.
So all you have to do is call the 1800 GOOG411 number, and as far as I know this, it only works in the U.S. You can try it from other countries, but you will only be able to call a U.S. Businesses. So once, you call GOOG411, just follow the voice prompts, and it should allow you to find your Google Listing, and once you find your Google Listing, it will connect you for free.
So anybody that calls a GOOG411 and is able to find your listing can connect to your phone number for free. And as far the inumbr is concerned, once it expires, it should be pretty easy to sign-up for another one. Just go back to inumbr and sign-up for another phone number, or maybe even extend your current phone number, and then just update it in Google's Business Directory.
I am not really sure about the limitations of using GOOG411 for this, but the best thing to do is just try it out and see if you can get different methods to work better, and if you can, please share those methods with us in the comments below.
