Male: Okay so Jen Carter is with me here from open alpha.tv. Thank you so much Jen for being here.
Female: My pleasure.
Male: And you have a little PSP hack for us?
Female: I do.
Male: And that would be?
Female: That would be Windows 95 or 98 on the PSP.
Male: Windows, Windows 95 or 98.
Female: I know if you still have your CDs you can totally do this.
Male: Nice. Okay so first of all, just a service purpose I mean having Windows.
Female: None or what so ever this is one of those things you do because you can.
Male: Oh yes yes.
Female: The best kind of things.
Male: The geek motto?
Female: Yes
Male: By far and so now since we are on a PSP, is this actually running like Windows 95?
Female: Well, this is why we have Linux on set because this is running emulated trough box links.
Male: Okay.
Female: So I am going to show you how to set up an image of windows to move over to PSP.
Male: Oh sweet using Bochs Linux
Female: Using Bochs Linux.
Male: So obviously that would be in the list of things that we need.
Female: List of you need you need a PC you also need USB PSP cable cause you got to go to the cross and you need a memory stick pro duo but it has to be more than a 150 megs because the minimum installation for Windows 95 is a 150 megs you will need more space to windows 98 and if you want any hope of using your PSP for other stuff, you need the bigger stick. I have got the 1gig scandisk stick. This is the value pack one and my PSP right now and that to me is the best one.
Male: Okay. So that is basic system requirements?
Female: That is basically it except that your PSP is also have to be a 1.5. If you got the 2.0 you can down grade but anything past that and you are stuck it has to be 1.5 you need the current access.
Male: Okay so now that we know what we have and what we are doing, how do we do it?
Female: Well we have to go into Windows and all the downloads for all the files are in the show notes because there are a lot of stuff that you need and I have to give Mac prompts to Mat from hacker.code.il because he is one of the first guys to get windows running on the PSP and stinger wolf who is actually going to be hosting most of the files.
Male: Nic.
Female: On his account and also configuration files if you do not want to configure things your self you can get the pre maid files and get here done.
Male: Get here done.
Female: Get here done because it is a very long install so you might want to actually have like a book or a video game to play in the meanwhile.
Male: While working on your PSP you might want to play your PS2.
Female: Yes basically. So the first thing you need to do is to set up your image and after you downloaded all the files you need you go into the box folder and open the x image so we want to make the hard drive “enter.” Now this is the part where we are going to make it 150 megs. Because minimum installation size. Now this is where you are going to start paying attention to. You see where it says 30416and such as per track 63. Write that down you will need it three to four more times.
Male: Are you serious?
Female: During the installation yes. Even if we have a pre made installation files, you do not have to the bear minimum 150 if you want to make it half gig insulation it take forever but you can do it so you have to pay attention and write that stuff down.
Male: Okay.
Female: Now I am not going to remake it because I have already my stuff, I have already set up. But one of the things that is going to happen in the couple steps from here is just going to say one of the steps is to format C: it is very important you are not wrecking your hard drive you are going to be formatting your image so you are going to be formatting you 150 meg image that you have created.
Male: Okay
Female: Not your hard drive, it is okay go do it. A lot of people stop on that step and say Oh no my hard drive I do not want to set up a new computer to make this installation it is not like that.
Male: It is just a virtual procedure drive?
Female: Yes exactly.
Male: Got you.
Female: If you follow
