Female: So, what steps the people need to go through before they actual dye their hair?
Male: The most importantly what we are going to decide upon is what kind of tint are we going to use whether it is will be semi permanent or permanent. Now, with Catherine’s hair we got a great so we are going to need some carriage on this when you use on permanent tint today. Once we identify that is the range that we are going for. What we are going to do then is follow the instructions. Most important things so far three hours before you color your hair, we are looking and do in the strong test and sensitivity test. Now, a strong test is basically we take a little bit hair from round the back and then we put a little bit of color on the choice that color that we are going to use in order to see what kind of color we are going to achieve with it and also if the hair is strong enough to take that color.
Now, the sensitivity test is very, very important. A little bit of tint mix so far three hours before, just pop a little bit around about the other or even beyond the air. Okay, we are going to leave that in 48 hours. Any reaction whatsoever we do not do the tint. That is most important, okay. So we follow the rules, keep it really nice and safe. What we chosen today for Catherine is the 128 for Nice and Easy. This is going to give 100% coverage. Okay, really nice and easy to mix up. Okay, so one goes into the other. I will pour the full amount in. Gray hair is quite strong and it is quite difficult to cover in many cases. There is a fair amount of proto but actually got to go on.
Make sure you well coated. Wear some old clothes. Do it in the bathroom so it is nice and easy to clear off. The color will stain your skin so what is the most important is look that barrier cream for around the edges is good right there.
Female: Right, just if around there the forehead.
Male: Yeah, I mean with Catherine what we have done is we just put a little bit on before but it is easy you can use like a Vaseline barrier cream or something like that just to make sure that the tint outside to come. Then, use the gloves, it is really, really important.
Female: Otherwise it will stain in your hands?
Male: Yes, it will stain in your hands and again give in the away the getting a little bit. What we are going to do is concentrate first of all on the front hair line. We are going to actually use this applicator bottle to take the section so obviously you need with the hair dresser doing this own for you so you have to make this as easy as possible. Just by tipping you head back slightly and using your fingers will go across along to this hair line and that is the first area. What you are going to find is gray hair generally is around there from that is always way you can see it. Straight in there and let us get a lot of proto tone there right away.
Now, the application starts taking strip away so good tip is speed is at the essence that is get the color on as quick as we can. Now, through the part in try and keep the hair flat down and then what are we going to do is just really color in that gray area first.
Female: And concentrate on that first rather than through the lengths?
Male: Absolutely! This is the most important part because what we are going to find here is really gray weaver of his, the hair the rest of the hair is already colored. We are then going to use the tip of the applicator bottle just to take some nice fine sections. And then, just work in that in with the fingers, just target in that area and working through as quick as we can.
Female: This is best to start from the middle and just work the way down?
Male: Yes. So, if the hair is really thick we are taking finer sections for the reason that we want to get a good distribution around through the hair and be able to work it through so on cross hair that is harder to do. Find the hair, the other sections can be that should wider. That is the first section on our first quarter. Quickly move around to this side and just repeat so go around the partly and then we work that in. We can see that there is not any color going on the midland and then to here. We will do that right the last for the simple reason that the hair is already colored. So, we do not want it to drop to dark. The frost through the hair is key the factoring this and it will change what result she get. So, the hair is already pre-colored remember that it will react differently to hair that is not all ready colored. That is really important thing remember especially when you are choosing the shade.
Female: So, there anything’s people should avoid when they got colored hair then?
Male: The idea behind this is to keep coloring really, really simple and easy to understand. It is like any job, some job that are just more complicated than other and if in doubt seek some professional advice because there is nothing worst that in going wrong because really the instructions may have been bypass slightly. If you go bleached hair, you be careful on what you are choosing to put on. So, the processing time on this style is at 25 minutes.
Female: And do you start the clock on that as you start the top or as you finishing?
Male: We start the clock as soon as we finish. Bare it in mind that it has been on there as been on the front just that toward longer but really right from the time we are finishing that is why the application has to be fairly swift.
Female: And you talk about starting your clock could you recommend literally having a stop clock?
Male: I would, you just get carried away the time, you know the TV can go on, take a curl and the next thing you know the color has been on a lot longer. What have got to remember is that it is also in contact with scalp although this is contains a very, very peroxide enough to get the color work and up to dated. It can have and effect in the scalp especially when you lighten.
Female: What are the worst case scenario results?
Male: Well, yes, worst case scenario is that it can result in some blistering.
Female: So you follow the instruction.
Male: Absolutely to the letter. Okay, so virtually at the end now. Last few sections and what we are going to do is just go back and just cross check over everything just to make sure that we have not miss any areas. There we go all done.
Male: Okay, so to recap the choosing, first of all semi permanent, a permanent color. One that maybe just rinse it out with no ammonia or it is the auto gray in there just that one is a little bit strong we called it level 2 but it will last for about 24 shampoos. If your hair is like Catherine’s we are looking at permanent color. This is to get full coverage 100% just to make sure it peroxide, okay. Once we have identified that a little bit by a cream prepare well, okay. Make sure you gown or wear some old clothes do it in the area that house is easy to clear up and give your self enough time. Take fine sections, okay from the partly. Come work through nice and cleanly. If the hair is thick and find the sections working through in that in a cross section, okay. We split the hair with four sections and work all the way through. You can set and relax then for about 25 minutes. Now, keep checking it because the case with then is this photo cannot to be left on 45 minutes if the hair is more cold and harder to cover.
Female: If someone got long hair is there a way to keep it of your back or the clothes?
Male: Yes. I will quickly show you. You need the section clip where it is very, very easy to do because you just want to a loose pony tail. So it is there since the palm of the hands, a simple twist and then grip and that is more than enough and then it is not switching about and it will not touch anywhere else.
Female: Do you need to get through the full head at the moment?
Male: No, what are we going to do is with Catherine’s which is a really good tip actually is good question and this hair with dark and down quite quickly so we are going to check it after about 25 minutes, 20 minutes is like. And then, we just start to break through just on the ends, this hair here is only going to need. So you last ten minutes on for this Catherine if this is going to need more in 25 minutes probably 35 to 40 so that just give us the last few minutes just to work it through with your fingers. If the hair is already colored remember that it may go a little bit darker if you take it to straight away. Leave it for the last say ten to fifteen minutes and then just lightly brush up through that is just going to be enough to refresh the ends.
Male: So Catherine’s hair is being blown dry now and styled so we just pull this hair down now so you can see just where about that partly was and the coverage on there. That was 25 to 30 minutes that we left there on for 30 minutes and natural last five or ten minutes. We just took it straight to the ends. The reason why we have done that you can see hair the end is not going too dark. We have got a shine and even color right from the root and it comes all the way through then into the ends. Hair feels fabulous. Really nice and soft, really nice and conditioned, we have got as nice kind of texture finish on it clean and your shine and ask what this is all about. Had this in great condition with the fabulous color on it and easy to do and good result, really good result.
