Hi, my name is Aileen Carol Hogspot, I’m here with friends of rabbits, we’re talking about how
to care for your rabbit. Now we will be discussing how to handle your rabbit. Today, I have, as
my willing participant, Jenny, Jenny is going to need to be supported when I pick her up, so I
wanna make sure that I follow proper procedure. Proper procedure would not be pulling on her
ears, trying to pick her up by her ears. Trying to pick her up by her scruff, which is not gonna
happen, really, she doesn’t have a lot here, not like cats would, for example. And I’m not gonna
pull her by her tail, coz that’s definitely not anything that’s gonna make her feel like she’s being
supported. The proper way to pick up your rabbit is to make sure that they feel secure at all
times, and they will kick if they don’t feel secure, and they really do not prefer to be pick up, so
what you want to do is, you wanna put your hand under the front, and one hand under the back,
and you wanna make them feel secure. I’m holding firm and tight, but I’m not squishing her, and
I’m not squeezing her. So I can feel her, and she can feel me, when I put her down, I wanna be
just as gentle in putting her down as I did when I picked her up. and that’s how to handle your
rabbit. Next we’re going to talk about how to relax your rabbit.
