Female Speaker: Hi there and welcome to you neo-fight.tv the technology we review with two points of view. My name is Tiffany young and I'm Ben Freedman today is Wednesday, July 26 and today we are going to looking at this very quite – it's quite.
Tiffany young: It's quite.
Ben Freedman: This is very squire.
Tiffany young: I think it's a quite. Yeah small such a quite.
Ben Freedman: Squire on a – product that from a Baffalo.
Tiffany young : Yup.
Ben Freedman: Is it a Baffulo or Buffulo.
Tiffany young: I would say Buffalo because it spells Buffalo.
Ben Freedman: Yes, but – that Buffalo brand jeans that came out few years back.
Tiffany young: No Ben ever heard Buffalo jeans. No way I don’t know.
Ben Freedman: -- you know the other guys walking the overly skinning men walking on these jeans.
Tiffany Young: -- that once with like the big belt buckle will goes in this.
Ben Freedman: No okay lets get back this.
Tiffany Young: Do you like cowboy jeans.
Ben Freedman: What this is is that this is a hard drive.
Tiffany Young: I don’t know exactly about.
Tiffany Young: It's a 300 gigabyte hard drive, but instead of hooking up to your computer you look it by this network jack to your home network and basically means that anyone on your home network can access 300 gigabytes of storage any computer in your home or office can access it.
Tiffany Young: So do you think that were a kind of going away little bit with the big hard drive storage that is on laptops and you know, but if they coming out with devices like this, what you mean a huge hard drive for in the first place and why was spend the money when you can make this up for.
Ben Freedman: Well a hear drive on your networks would be a lot slower then the hard drive in your computer.
Tiffany Young: right now but I better won't be –
Ben Freedman: That’s true and networks are gets in faster, faster – right you know. I use to have all of my pictures on my hard drive.
Tiffany Young: Exactly.
Ben Freedman: -- my wife worry she is got pictures on her hard drive and you know we have in a computer that port tv and may be it's have a copy of those pictures with non of we don’t do anymore now we have script all those picture so you don’t use any other space in our hard drives and all of our pictures are on at home media server – like this product and who was really cool about that doesn’t means that every computer has access with the picture. We have a lot of MP files on here every computer has access --
Tiffany Young: You better pause the special pictures that you told me about.
Ben Freedman: The special once.
Tiffany Young: Yeah right. Password protect please.
Ben Freedman: Those would be on sale on eBay a litter on, okay – my wife may be watching – watches the show you know.
Tiffany Young: Everyone – or accident.
Ben Freedman: So if great plugs in the network now it's not wireless – some wires just plugged to get to the network.
Tiffany Young: Puts as pretty easy to get.
Ben Freedman: And it will not only hook up to every other computer but if you got a port of portable media devices like a Tebo and or window media center or other similar boxes that uses the media sharing format they can access this as well.
Tiffany Young: It's really nice makes it very versatile.
Ben Freedman: It's very versatile, I know D-Link makes one of those set top boxes you put on top of your TV.
Tiffany Young: Right.
Ben Freedman: And they are cheeper then computer. However, being on the network if does mean that file transfers do take a bit longer especially, if you are using a wireless connection on you, on your end.
Tiffany Young: Right and I think if doesn't print have a this when you hook up printer up today is that only.
Ben Freedman: Oh yeah that’s
Tiffany Young: What.
Ben Freedman: But you mentioned that you could hook up printer up to this.
Tiffany Young: Right probably.
Ben Freedman: This is a wireless print service so if you won't have a single printer you USB printer that you want everyone to be of the access you can plug the printer in to the USB port here and that means that everyone on that network those well, as been of to access this hard drive everyone can now access the printer.
Tiffany Young: Right now the only problem with that, is that only one way communication so if you were not a ink paper you are not get this to back from the printer back to you computer where ever you are.
Ben Freedman: That’s truth most printer these days, you as you get low – I think pops left window. You running well on – well this is a one way connection.
Tiffany Young: -- why they did that – nice for two way connection --. You know –
Ben Freedman: But I have something for you pay money for the next one.
Tiffany Young: I guess so, something to upgrade right.
Ben Freedman: -- could I think forwardly be a two high product.
Tiffany Young: You know this is light weight folks it's great you know that I, I have to say it for --
Tiffany Young: By the way how much this is again
Ben Freedman: I think its a few hundred buks I'm not sure, the problem with the hard drive in your.
Tiffany Young: They were my responsible to look that.
Ben Freedman: -- it was close to $300 but the problem is that they come down all the time as the capacity goes up. So there was a 100-gigabit version of this that was $300 a couple of month ago and then there now is the 300 gigabyte version is --
Tiffany Young: And you – of a prices – for a prices and so.
Ben Freedman: So you know I really like this product and it's great you can do backup too if you got the time you can put your pictures in USB any files you want to put the share at any printer. I, but it is slow transfer over wireless and only has that one way USB thing, so I give it a 3 out of 5.
Tiffany Young: Well I think it is very, very usable product I think it's a little bit expensive stills and hoping the price comes down a bit, but for having a 300 gigabyte backup storage device I thing that’s pretty great considering everybody can access for you network connect your printer up to even those it's really one way, so that being sad I going to give this product of 4 out of 5 right. Really thing this is going to be the way of the future as we kind of head down technology way and.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, you don’t have to store a lot of stuff in your laptop.
Tiffany Young: You do want -- less money on the laptop and have like may be – 100 gigabyte hard drive on my laptop and just you know and have the security knowing that it's right here. Now as this become fire proof and dust profen.
Ben Freedman: That’s 4 out of 5 for Tiffany 3 out of 5 for me, so that 7 out of 10 for the Buffalo Home Media Server and that’s all the time we have for today, but you got 30 more second take a look at this.
