Health Tip: Coughing

Hi I am Joe Graedon. I write the newspaper column “The People’s Pharmacy” and host the syndicated radio show. Have you ever had a cough in the middle of the night it wakes you up, makes you feel miserable going, by the way it also spreads germs. What to do about it there are all kinds of cough suppressants on pharmacy shops they do not work that great, especially for children and in high doses they can cause hallucination, what can you do? Well look around for some hard candy or a cough drop. People have been using this product for decades, look especially for menthol and eucalyptus they work really well, but do not take them if you are lying down in bed, you do not want to choke on your cough drop. Now, one of the things people often do not think about is VicksVaporub. Oh, you are saying yes, but I have heard of Vicks you spread in on your chest you put it in your nostrils uhhh! put it on the sole of your feet. I can not explain why it would work, as a pharmacologist all I can tell you is little Vicks on your feet, put on some nice warm socks climb in the bed your cough will stop almost instantly. Finally, a little dark chocolate. There are some researches that actually suggest an ingredient in the dark chocolate which will really calm your cough. What better way to stop a cough.
