Healthy Diet For Kids

Dr. Barry Hainer: Of the issue of diet with children and giving good advice to parents about selection of foods is an important one. My advice is in terms of having fast foods is to have some healthy snacks available within a easy reach for the child. I like to recommend sliced vegetables or fruits and melons especially during the season of course when fruits and melons are available because most children will enjoy those and the fast part is important. They don't want or they are eager not to have to be delayed in getting something that requires preparation. Often parents are busy in their schedule and they don't necessarily want to provide them with a full meal when just a snack is necessary. And rather than providing purchased high calorie, high fast snacks that are and usually wrapped in plastic or contained in a box, I think the more that we can encourage parents to provide healthy snacks, the more likely we are able to develop good dietary habits in our children.
