Louis Yuhasz: I’m Louis Yuhasz, I’m the Executive Director of LouiesKids.org.
What are some tips to keep your child at a healthy weight?
Louis Yuhasz: I think that it’s important to go back to the three step method. Monitoring fat grams, monitoring fiber grams and putting on in parameter, I think it’s also really important that you got to practice what you preach. You can insist your kid take a walk if you never take on yourself. You also can’t have the idea that just because Junior is struggling with his weight that the rest of my kids should be able to go to McDonalds. I think that there are some mentality that if one of us in the family and struggling with grain and will all nut do we all need to be in it together. And the answer to that is pretty basic, yes I mean it’s a family, it’s a family project I think all families need to be healthy. It should be a harmonious thing that you’re doing within your family and not just singling out one of your children. Fast-food restaurants aren’t good for any of us, all in a every other day or daily basis. And we are seeing a real increase in that so you shouldn’t use go to treat as a treat you should use an activity. I think one of the best things you can do early on is never introduce your children to soda. That a treat if you do use but there’s a trader if you choose too should be blueberries or an apple. You have to keep fruit and vegetables around the house, you have to eat them so that your kids are seeing you do it and it becomes habit for them.
I think that there are just in really basic ways that we can combat this disease and will just not there yet. There is also what’s being them to outrage mentally which is already outrage syndrome which is parents who are putting there head in the sand because they are not quite there with there own weight loss program or there loss goals. I think that’s a huge opportunity for a family to grab hold of there health and to change what’s happening or the dynamic of there family together. I trying to tell kids all the time that our job is to make them feel better about themselves. They knew in ever they skinny, DNA place a major rule on the make up with children. So they need becoming from the DNA that suggest they are going to be a person of size but a person of size doesn’t have to have part disease, doesn’t have to live with diabetes and I think that’s really important for everyone to know the programs that we support, help kids to feel better about themselves and to feel was though they do fit in and if there is a place for them that they can be an athlete, that they can participating groups sports and they don’t have to live in a shadow. I think that those are some really good ways just all of us in a family working together for the same goal which is to live healthier better lives.
