This idea usually starts out with the 4th. You can use either voicing. Now that we have covered both of them, we can go ahead and start a 4th away, go 4th up from there, go a whole step and another 4th up from there and go ahead and play to that idea.
Usually, instead of playing with your thumb on this beginning note, you want to try to have your thumb on that 3rd note, we said that's the idea. You want to end up having it there, so you can use 2, 4, 1, 2, 4. Again, those notes are F, Bb, C and F, but we want to get that thumb on that C. We can play it most quickly. That's a solo idea.
The other way to look at this would be starting on the root of the chord you're on, where on the C minor7, do the same thing. Go up a 4th, go up a whole step from there, go up another 4th. So we have these two so far, arpeggiate it. That's what lays in the hands well. Your fingering might be slightly different, not usually for this one. It's all about what's comfortable for you and it's all about what your preference is, as long as you are not clashing with the melody note. That's very, very important.
If you ever play with a singer, you have got to have your upper structure B okay and aligned well with the melody note.
