So let's go ahead and keep working with this half-diminished chord. Remember, it's just a minor7 with that 5th flatted. Now, if you remember, one of the voicings when we had our C minor 7th was 7, 2, 3, 5, when we are talking about degrees of the scale, degrees of the chord. For a half-diminished, we can use the same thing. There is the 7, remember, there it is in reposition. There is the 7. There is the 3. There is the 5; 1, 3, 5, 7, 7, 3, 5, and we need the 2. The 2, when you use a 7, 2, 3, 5 voicing it's always, always a half step away; it gives you that sound.
It's not the prettiest chord in the book, but it's also part of another 2-5-1, we are going to learn in a second. It's very important to know. So, our 1st voicing is that one. We can also go ahead and play the 3, the 5, the 7, and actually in half-diminished chord, the 9 is going to be the B. Let's take a look at the notes.
You have got C, Eb, G and B. Let's review the two voicings. I am going to show you a 3rd one. There is one of them or we can use our 3, 5, 7, 9, based on the minor7 and lower the 3rd to the Eb. Again, C, Eb, G, E, really just depends on how spooky you want to get. It's great for Halloween and scaring children. I prefer this voicing.
