Rachel: Hi! I am Rachel from Austin, Texas. Can a heart attack feel like indigestion?

Joon Lee: Rachel, that's an excellent question about what a heart attack feels like, unfortunately yes, it can exactly mimic indigestion. The difficult fact is that although most of us feel sensations in the skin and in our limbs exactly the same way, all of us feel the sensation from internal organs differently. And although the classic symptoms of a heart attack, are crushing chest pain, shortness of breath, severe sweatiness. Often times, heart attacks present in a very atypical manner, and gastrointestinal distress is one of the more common presentations.
