Beta blockers are a known cause of hair loss. Many men and women have lost hair while on these drugs. They are heartbroken....havin g to choose between hair loss or a possible stroke or heart attack from high blood pressure.

Sally: Hi, I'm Sally from Venice, Florida and I'm 64 years old. I would like to know if my high blood pressure medicine can cause hair loss? Amy McMichael: Sally, wonderful question. I think that's a good question you're your dermatologist as well as for your internists. Well, what we think about medicines is that many medicines can cause hair loss and if you look any medicine at probably there is one patient somewhere on the earth is that hair loss related to it, but unless it is temper related, in other words time related to the time you started taking it may be within a month or two months usually we don't think about medicines causing very much hair loss. So, I think if you need your blood pressure medicine then you go ahead and take it.
