Kevin: Hi my name’s Kevin, welcome to watchmojo. Today we’re going to be looking at some guitar and amplifiers from Boutique Tone. So Jeremy, why don’t you tell us a bit about what’s this place is all about. Jeremy Stern: Basically, I was always going to different music stores and different cities and I’ve found that it’s all always main stream stuff, same every city at the same stores and I’ve really been into the Boutique High-end gear for a long time and really wanted to find a store that would be a place that I would want to go, so I created this place with the most amazing gear on the planet. Kevin: How did you go about choosing what’s here and was it sort of preference thing or did you just want to sort of differentiate yourself from the major sort of retail outlets. Jeremy Stern: I didn’t want to carry anything that were carrying. I didn’t want to compete with them directly, it’s really going for a much higher level of gear. Pretty much everything you see here is stuff that I want. It’s really the best that you’ll find out there so we’ve got you know, that all kinds of guitars from states, we’ve got Anderson and Tyler’s, Duesenburg from Germany, then we got some local guitars that are incredible. There’s some amazing builders from Montreal that really I didn’t know too much about before. There’s some great builders like Stevenson. These are made here in Montreal, they’re at similar, just like a similar to a Strad but the quality is so much better. And then you’ve got a Wilkinson Bridge in there, he’s doing his own pick-ups. The wood is really hand-selected but if you look at the way they’re joined, you know the way the neck joins are and with the frets are done. They’re perfect, they’re flawless. There’s another company out of Germany that I’m just nuts about, it’s called Duesenburg, they’re just the coolest, coolest guitars around, so these are awesome, this is De Meyers, what we’ve been talking about, completely hand on here in Montreal, far superior to anything you’ll find in most music stores. Pedals are really great, it's fun, probably our best-selling pedal is the RC Booster. It’s a clean boost basically wakes up your amp. We can add in this little bit of gain if you want to but it’s just a phenomenal, phenomenal pedal. The delay is something everybody needs; fun pedal to use, a t-rex is a digital delay that you could actually make sound analog but it’s a really, really great sounding pedal. We have a top tempo which will allow you to set the speed of the delay with your foot, so based on the tempo of the song, you can tap it in and get it to synch exactly with that, that’s a really great feature. This Your Little Green Wonder, this is a great sounding distortion pedal. A little bit like a tube screamer but it will give you a lot more drive and it's just amazing pedal. Kevin: Great, well there you go, if you know what kind of sound you’re looking for, there’s a good chance that you’ll find it in Montreal. So all these amps are tube amps, correct? Jeremy Stern: They’re all tubes. Tubes are really, if you’re looking for tone and melody, everything in this place is really here to work the best tone. Tubes are really good. Basically. we’ll start out with Swart, this is one of our best-selling amps, right here, they're amazing actually in the States. We’ve got some more powerful ones like this Stevenson here. This is a phenomenal, phenomenal amp, it’s 100W, pure joy. It’s a killer. 65 Amps are made in States. There’s a Martial field to it, just a great sound in it. And actually one of the owners of the company is Straud, he’s a great guitar player. And we’ve got some other stuff like Fuchs which is made in States; great amps. The funny thing about amps you know you can-- a great amp is going to sound, it’s going to make everything guitar sounds good, you know a great guitar, it’s a different story, you know you really get it where it only comes in to places. Kevin: Awesome, well there you go, if you’re looking to improve your sound, it might not hurt to get a high-quality guitar amplifier.
