My name is Pam and today I’m going to show you how to make Fabric buttons. It’s the easiest way and the fastest way to snaz up your wardrobe. The materials you want to need today are blank buttons, assembly tool you can both of these at a fabric store, a craft store or online, scissors, industrial strength glue, you can get this at a hardware store or at the craft store, fabric crafts or embroider something like I did here. If you want to snaz it up a little bit hint and breadths will do just fine now let’s clear the table and get started. The first thing you want to do is cut up your fabric. It needs to be twice the diameter of your button. You could do that several different ways. You can eye it like I did with these or the back of the package have a little pattern that you can use. I have already cut one out so that’s what I’m going to use today. Today, I’m going to take the lady bug that I embroidered and make a button with it. So to come up my circle I’m going to fold the lady bug in half like so and take my pattern and place the pattern on the crease like this. Then I take my scissors and cut out my lady bug. Okay, I’ve cut my circle up and there’s my lady bug. Next I’m going to take my assembly tool and put my ladybug down in there, fabric first with the ladybug facing down. Next, I’m going to take the front part of my button which is the rounded part and stick it inside of my assembly tool. I’m going to look and make sure that my ladybug is centered and it looks pretty good. The next thing I’m going to do is take this extra fabric and just fold it down in here. Now I take the back part of my button and this part actually comes toward you and put that on top. Then I take my little piece and shove it in there. And you’ll hear it click and the you’ll know the button is secure. Now let’s see what my button looks like. And there’s my button so cute. Although I had a cute button I think I want a pen instead so I’m going to take this little shank part off with some needle nose pliers. You want to take it and just wiggle it back and forth until it comes out. I’m going to take my pin back and my industrial strength glue and put a little bit of glue on the back like so. Now take your pin back and make sure you position it in the right place and stick that puppy on there like so. Now, this is industrial strength glue so it needs a separate 24 hours before you can actually wear the pin. My pin is dry now and I’m going to put it on because it so super cute it goes along with my pea. There are so many fabulous uses for fabric buttons. Not only get a spice up your wardrobe but they are great for berets, rings and don’t forget pens.
