Cat Deorio: Hi! I am Cat Deorio and even though summer is coming to a close, I am going to show you how to extend the grilling season into fall. Today, we are going to make a Smokin' Turkey Sausage Sandwich, and we are going to use Hillshire Farm turkey smoked sausage. I already have that going on the grill for us.
Now, here is a quick little tip, you are going to want to use tongs. Don't lose the juice, because if you pierce your sausage, you are going to have all the juice run out into the grill and it's not going to have any flavor left and we don't want that. It looks delicious and it smells amazing out here. Really, simple. All I am going to do now is top it with some Sara Lee cheese. I am using the Monterey jack cheese of jalapeño. This cheese is delicious that has jalapeños in it, it gives a little bit of heat, a little bit of spice. But the combination of the two is incredible. But if that's not your style, you can go ahead and use a mild cheddar or a baby Swiss or whatever it is that you like.
I like lots of cheese, I am going to add a few extra slices to this. Now, what we are going to do is we are going to make some chipotle mayo. Supper easy, so don't be intimidated. We are going to take about two tablespoons of mayo, put it in a small bowl and then you are going to get those canned chipotle peppers in a Adobo sauce . You are going to take one of the peppers out, dice it up finely and then take about two teaspoons of the Adobo sauce and add that to your mayo. You are just going to stir it up. Now feel free if you like it extra spicy to add a few more peppers to this.
Okay, now what we are going to do is just drizzle this over the top. Look at how delicious, the cheese is melting on to the warm sausage. It's going to be amazing and then you are just going to top it off with some grilled onions and some roasted red peppers. It's going to be delicious, it's such an easy recipe. You can do it for your family, for your backyard barbecue or any other party and there you have it the Smokin' Turkey Sandwich.
