Bentley Motors Limited is a British-based manufacturer of luxury automobiles and grand tourers founded in the England on January 18, 1919 by Walter Owen Bentley or simply WO, Bentley’s legacy dates to the rotary aero-engines in World War I. The company is currently own by Volkswagen group’s Audi division. Prices for Bentley range from $150,000.00 to $300,000.00 and that explains why celebrities like Jay-Z and P. Diddy have been seen driving them.
Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as Scuderia Ferrari, Ferrari is an Italian sports car manufacturer based in Marinello Italy. Shortly after being founded, the company sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before losing into production of street-legal vehicles in 1946 as Ferrari SPA.
Today, Ferrari’s cars are among the most desirable vehicles to own and drive and one of the ultimate status symbols in wealth in the Western world. Ferrari has been a major supporter of Formula 1 racing but after financial struggles, Enzo sold the company’s sports car division to Fiat Group in 1969. But Enzo himself retained controlled of the racing division until his death in 1988 at the age of 90. In addition to cars, Ferrari also has a merchandizing line that includes pens, perfume, high-tech bicycles and even a series of laptop computers believe it or not.
Porsche is a German sports car manufacturer founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, the engineer who also created the first Volkswagen. The Porsche Company slogan “There is no Substitute” might say it all. In fact Porsche has from many years offered consultancy service to various other car manufacturers.
Porsche also helped Harley Davidson design their new engine in their newer V-rod motorcycle. But Porsche is a league of its on. In a May 2006 survey, Porsche was awarded first place as the most prestigious automobile brand by Luxury Institute according to 500 households with the gross annual income of at least $200,000.00 US and a net worth of at least $750,000.00 US.
Lotus Cars is a British manufacturer of sports cars and racing cars. The company it was originally formed as Lotus Engineering Limited by the influential engineer Collin Chaplin in 1952. Chaplin died of a heart attack in 1982 at the age of 54. In 1986, the company was bought by General Motors who sold it in 1993 to ACDN holdings SA of Luxembourg. Who can forget the DeLorean DMC 12, manufactured between 1981 through 1983? It is most commonly known as The Dolorian as it was the only model ever produced by the company, the DMC 12 featured gull wing doors with a brushed stainless steel body. The first prototypes appeared in March 1977 and production officially began in 1981. It was famously featured in the Back To The Future trilogy.
