Hitachi's latest cell phone records high-def video

High definition video recording is the main feature on Hitachi’s latest handset for Japan, the second phone to date to have the technology, the handset which carries the WOOO brand name that Hitachi uses for its high def TVs can records 1280 by 720 pixel resolution at 30 frames per second. There’s an HDMI connector for hooking up the cellphone to a TV to enjoy the video or you can transfer to a PC. The video quality isn’t as good as you get on high def camcorder, after all the lens is much smaller and resolution lower. But it’s pretty impressive for cellphone. It can also snap 5 megapixels still images and tune in to mobile TV. The first cellphone to feature HD video recording was Samsung’s Omnia HD which was unveiled at this Use Mobile World Congress. Like the Hitachi handset, the Omnia HD should set 720 resolution. Video recording is becoming a more important feature on cellphones when the iPhone 3DS recently launched one of the most popular features was the addition of video recording.
