Hey guys! It’s Mary here from the Etsy Labs Team. Today we are here to talk about packaging and branding for your Etsy shop. But just something we should be all thinking about with the holiday is approaching soon.
Packaging is really important to remember when shipping out your items because they can help create a special brand and special touch for everything that you send out. So today we are here to show you some of our best labs packaging and branding secrets there is (overlapped) expensive and most times it is free. We are going to use recycled materials and just show you how to add that wild factor to your packaging.
You guys might be wondering what we have on this table here, what it really is, is several wonderful packaging and branding material secrets that we are going to share with you. And pick what I am going to focus on to day is how to actually wrap your products and make them look a little bit more professional and ready to ship out.
This is a little cellophane bag, it is also called a cellobag for short. You can get this at your local craft store, I am sure there is a plenty of sellers FC that are even selling this. So let us say, I made this piece of jewelry which I did and I want to package it up to ship out. I will just open up this little bag here, and drop the ring in, rip off the sticker, fold it down over itself. And you have some nice looking packaging in there.
You can stop there if you want, if you wanted to take the step further which I always encourage. You can add a little piece of paper with the staple to look like this. This is really easy, this piece of paper is just from a recycled menu, slip it over like that and stapler like I do on hand, just one staple and how we view is that? And this looks so good.
So, once you have got your goody packaged up, we could take it another step further. Those of you good at see ins, that watch my “how to make a paper box tutorial” already know how to make this sweet box out of any kind of recycled paper. If you are giving this as a gift, you could be done, if not you could then put this in your envelope and ship it out to your customer.
Another way of wrapping these goodies, which is a personal favorite of mine is by recycling some of these old catalogs. I get all these catalogs from clothing stores and furniture stores and they are great but after I am done looking through them, I would normally throw them out. But instead, what I do is just rip open the pages, like so and use them as wrapping paper for my goodies. All I did was take something like this, put a little bubble wrapper around it, wrapped it in my catalog piece of paper and I just wrapped it up in piece of old trim that I was not going to use in another project, could be simpler than that.
There are so many things around your house that you never knew you could use to wrap your packages in. This would be the opportune time to use a little scrap like this to wrap up something small and take advantage of your scraps to recycle and re-use in your branding and packaging.
