Homemade Ice Cream Recipe
Audra Lowe: Ice cream use cream yes, we all love our ice cream but before you head to the store to pick up a pint you might consider making your own and don’t worry it’s a lot easier than you might think check it out.
Imagine being able to enjoy reach creamy homemade ice cream without having to buy an expensive machine to make it.
Sonal Dutt: but making your own homemade ice cream is actually a lot easier and less expensive that you may actually take.
Audra Lowe: We met up with Sonal Dutt lifestyle director of Everyday with Rachel Ray for a lesson on ice cream making 101.
Sonal Dutt: You need two copy cans a 36 ounce and a 12 ounce, a big bowl of ice, a lot of Kosher or coarse salt and your ice cream base which is usually cream, salt, sugar and milk. So you going to start with your two copy cans after rinsing them and washing them you should stick them in the freezer for a couple of hours just to get them really icing and chilly. Once there clean and frozen you’re going to pour your ice cream mixture into your smaller can about three quarters of a way to the top.
Audra Lowe: Pop the smaller can into the larger one and then add your ice.
Sonal Dutt: Then once you’re done with that you going to take about a cup of salt a lot of salt and just cover it completely. The salt is actually going to bring down the temperature level inside the cans of and can get super cold and gets frozen really quickly.
Pop the way on top and then get a roll of the pan for about 20 minutes. This is a great way to get the kids involve; they can actually kick it around the room a little bit, let a little bit of their energy.
Audra Lowe: And that’s it juts pop the top and pull out the ice cream canister in the middle and voila. Home made ice cream ready for the whole family to enjoy.
Sonal Dutt: It’s really fresh it’s nothing against the store about time that there is something about fresh ingredients that really makes ice cream taste delicious.
Audra Lowe: So the next time you’re craving the cold stuffs give the store and make it yourself instead.
And don’t forget the toppings that look so good. Try adding frozen berries or frozen chocolate chips for the delicious treat that won’t melt the ice cream before you get a chance to eat it.
