"When a horse fights and I react with ease and gentleness, then the moment very quickly comes when I can learn from this horse. What can I learn? Dedication!"
One possible reaction that a horse has, when someone exerts pressure, when someone uses force, is that the point comes when he says after one, two, or maybe three years, "Do what you want with me; I don't really care."
Then we have the horses that well, just let themselves be lead, let themselves be ridden, but I say as a rider sitting on the horse, I didn't have the feeling the horse doesn't really want to do this. It much rather go back to his stalls on his feet, rattle the field with friends, really the horse doesn't want to do what I am doing with him at this moment, but he does it because he has given up, because he has resigned.
The second possibility is that the use of force is endless and spirals out of control. The point comes when incredibly good horses with strong character end up in the slaughter house because no one is able to handle them.
