Hi, I am Sarah coming to you from ClinQs and you can find out about us on the web at clinqs.com. I am here to talk to you today about host etiquette.
One of the things you want to think about when hosting a party is whether or not you have the right platters, very colorful platters are wonderful pattern or solid, black and white as well. White solid is great for the contrast of different kinds of food as well as black. They make the pepper or avocado or whatever it is that you are serving really, really burst with color.
You also want to make sure that you have the proper utensils for serving. The last thing you want is for your guests put their hands in the bowl.
One of the things that I found to be extremely helpful in hosting a party is something called clinQs. ClinQs are vinyl decals that you can put on to a glass—each one is different so every person has a different one. And you can identify your glass throughout the night and you put the glass directly into the dishwasher without having to pull off the decals because they are washable and they stay on.
They are really helpful I have been to many parties where I have used them, I have used them at my parties and I do never lost my glass. I have never mistakenly drunk of someone else’s, that is a very nice thing to do as a host.
If someone shows up your party early or uninvited, the best thing that you can do and the proper etiquette is to invite them in, offer them a drink, offer them some food, and make conversation until it gets crowded.
The most important thing throughout the night, make sure that you do not drink too much. You have to make sure to hydrate and drink water, eat enough food so that when you do have drinks which people will constantly be asking if you want. You can have a few without getting sick or becoming, you know, the life of your own party—you do not want to be that person. So make sure to hydrate and do not drink too much.
