Nessa Wrafter: I’m with The Amanda Lacey of Amanda Lacey Skin Care. And she’s cased in London. She’d going to tell us all about her unique brand and philosophy; hi, Amanda.
Amanda Lacey: Hello Nessa.
Nessa Wrafter: So we’re in this incredible shop. Tell us a little bit more about the brand.
Amanda Lacey: Well, I started as a facialist many years ago and the brand was born around ten years ago and that brand started in my tiny flat in Chelsea and among the first products I brought out was the cleansing pomade today which is my kelp product and it’s been with us for ten years now.
Nessa Wrafter: So it’s all very natural, is that right?
Amanda Lacey: Yes we are rotating natural brand.
Nessa Wrafter: And very holistic as well.
Amanda Lacey: Very holistic and I basically, the whole philosophy of Amanda Lacey is almost a good show of a high end brand but also my night oils and my big thing which I formulated about ten to twelve years ago and theirs two night oils and those are the Oils of Provence and Charme oil and they are full of essential oils. They also prevent this has sage and normal oils and brought a rose and it works around the g spot on the skin but it also induces sleep because it has lavender. It has a touch of lavender in it as well. It’s quite lavender so if you apply it at night, you fall asleep nicely and it absorbs into the skin. And our skin needs certain amount of oil at night. Not a large amount but a very small amount, massage unto the skin to help it replenish itself through those night hours.
Nessa Wrafter: Talk me through an Amanda Lacey facial.
Amanda Lacey: The facials have spoke facial. I invented it again around fifteen years ago and we star of with the cleansing pomade the kelp product in which we cleanse the skin with the two cleansers. And then we go and we imbue the skin with rose oil, Persian organic rose oil. We do not just sell the rose oil because it is very expensive so we use it in the couture facial so it’s very, very special. Over that rose oil, we paint a paraffin wax NOx and paraffin wax has been around for since the 1940’s it’s been used a lot and in hospitals and lots of things so I brought it into the facial because it’s a lovely, lovely thing to use in the skin and years ago we used to steam a lot. I of course was trained to steam the skin. I do not like steaming myself. I prefer the paraffin wax mask because it’s plays specific.
Nessa Wrafter: What does it do?
Amanda Lacey: I apply the skin with the rose oil and it heats the skin up so therefore we can extract anything form the skin or I can take or strap out which I take out. I remove with a fine star needles. So that obviously helps it with in the facial to cleanse the skin and do deep cleanse. And then after that we peel back that mask and we remove it and obviously extraction starts then. And after that I massage the skin with the Oil of Provence and or the Charme oil or indeed the rose oil depending how sensitive the skin is on the client on that time.
Nessa Wrafter: So give us some top tips for brides getting married on how to prep their skins.
Amanda Lacey: I would say first of all; they should have a facial but not two days before their wedding; at least a week before so the skin can settle. The other thing I can give advice on is, I have done wedding make up in my time many years ago; is that for goodness sake, use something you are used to using. Do not go buy a new foundation the last minute incase you break or something terrible happens. That goes across the board with any make up. Make sure you are used to using the products you like and also, when you have a wedding make up applied, have it done two months before. Do not have your wedding make up applied in the ocean when you are getting married in the summer because some of the light changes so we have a problem with that. So make sure that you give everything plenty of time but obviously the make up should be done at least two months beforehand and your facial, a week before. So give it 5 to 6 days before your wedding day.
Nessa Wrafter: And is one facial enough do you think? Or should you have a course.
Amanda Lacey: No, we normally give a course of maybe 3 or 4 before the wedding; once a month leading up to the wedding just to prepare the skin.
Nessa Wrafter: Thank you so much, Amanda. It’s been a pleasure to have you on the show and we’ve learned loads of great tips for all the brides out there.
Amanda Lacey: Thank you Nessa.
