Female Speaker: Welcome to BodyRock.Tv! In today's episode I am going to explain you how to put together sequences of Yoga postures for your home practice. Many beginners of home yoga practice have the same problem. They don't know how to start and even if they know many postures from their classes, they just don't know how to put together a sequence.
So now I am going to explain to you how to do it. The important thing is that your postures have to start from the easiest to the most difficult. So your body and mind is ready to do the next posture in your sequence.
Male Speaker: So I understand that it goes from easy to hard, but why is that important?
Female Speaker: Well, it's important because, for example, if you want to do some more advance posture like a Camel pose, you can't do camel pose which is very advance without warming up, before that you have to do a couple of postures that will stretch your spine and warm your spine to be able to do the camel pose.
All the postures can be divided into eight categories and the first one is made up of standing postures. These are the best to do at the beginning of your sequence to warm up.
The second category is made up of balance poses. These require strength and focus. So it's good to put them at the beginning of the sequence or in the middle.
The third category of postures are backbend. They are energizing and usually upper thing and they should be done after the body is warmed.
The forth category of postures are twists. The neutralize and the release of spine and they are nice follow-ups to the backbends.
The fifth category are standing forward bend. They are great to use to stretch the back of your legs and also to quiet your mind at the challenging poses.
The sixth category are inverted poses. They can be charging like a headstand and they can bring the energy level up in the middle of your sequence.
The seventh category of postures are seated postures and they are the best at the end of our sequence because they are rounding.
The last, eighth category, are seated forward bends. They are the best to do at the end because they take the energy level down and they feel like an introspective state of mind.
This should give you an idea of how to put the postures together when you are building your own home yoga sequence. So thank you for watching and I will see you next time on BodyRock.Tv.
