How Calf Implants Work
Dr. Travis Stork: This comes from Tony in our studio audience who is a personal
trainer. So what’s your question?
Tony: I’m a personal trainer over kind of like. Everything else is great but
I have the smallest calves ever and I want them to match my body.
So, is there a procedure that could help me fix this little problem?
Dr. Drew Ordon: Tony I have two words for you, calf implants. Your upper body is
responding to your work outs, your lower body isn’t. Calf implant
surgery maybe the solution for you and what we use is silicon calf
implants. They’re made out of solid silicon, you can pick the size
based on your own body whatever size matches the rest of your
body. We measure the calves first. We place these above your
existing muscle and fit it to you.
Pretty simple procedure to do. I make a 1 ½ inch incision at the
back of your knees it last about two hours. It can be done under
local, it can be done on regional or general anesthesia.
Once the implants are in place, incisions are closed, what you can
expect with recovery, you should be off your feet for the first
week. Longer and swollen in bruise, you will have to wear
compression stockings for two to three weeks.
I know it’s going to be tough for you Tony. No activity for six
weeks, results can be seen and you’ll be completely healed in
about six weeks where you can resume those workouts because I
know you’ll be biting at the bed.
Tony: Definitely.
Dr. Drew Ordon: Tony, I’d like you to invite you to my office, do an examination,
the consultation and determine if you’re a candidate for surgery.
