How Diabetes Affects the Body
There are ways to prevent the dangers, complications of diabetes. Now, what happens in a normal person that has a normal pancreas? You eat a meal, there’s glucose in that meal, sugar and as that sugar goes through your gut, it inspires your pancreas that you’re looking at right there, to release insulin. The insulin goes into the bloodstream and when the insulin gets to the cells, your muscles and other cells, it basically says “Okay, let’s get some glucose in the cell” and as you can see there, the glucose is entering the cell. That’s the way it’s supposed to work
The problem is, if you have diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes, your cells become resistant to insulin. If you look here, a deceased person who has type 2 diabetes, they’re resisting that insulin. So, even though the insulin may be produced by your pancreas, your body says “Look, I’m going to ignore you because there’s too much sugar coming around” and you’ll see, it just bounces off the cell and sugar doesn’t get in your cell. What happens is it hangs on your bloodstream. That’s scary for one reason because when glucose hangs out in your bloodstream Jim, a lot of bad things happen.
