Crazy Taylor: 22 year old Carlos Villamizar working out at the gym isn’t a chore, it’s a passion.
Carlos Villamizar: It is more important in my life.
Crazy Taylor: But last year lifting weights became nearly impossible.
Carlos Villamizar: I feel like someone stabbed me in the back with a knife.
Crazy Taylor: A pinched nerve caused the muscles in his upper back to weaken. Carlos was told surgery wasn’t an option and it would take two years to heal.
Carlos Villamizar: Two years was not acceptable in my standards.
Crazy Taylor: Instead of weighting he turned to physical therapy and this special tape.
Christopher Stavres: So, this stays up and stays out like that. We want to it for stay back and stay down.
Crazy Taylor: Can you see a tape is stretched and placed on the skin over injured muscles and joints.
Christopher Stavres: You can apply this tape and in such manner that it will help to aid the contraction of the muscle group.
Crazy Taylor: The tape improves circulation and helps to remove painful fluid build-up.
Christopher Stavres: If that Kinesio tape recoils what it does is that then creates these convolutions along the skin, which relieve that pressure. And you can see how he stretches to work a little bit to get it their, but it’s much easier from his motion is much smoother to go there.
Trent Nessler: Nothing secure.
Crazy Taylor: But physical therapist Trent Nessler agrees Kinesio tape can have an impact when combined with other therapies.
Trent Nessler: It’s another great tool that we can use as a part of a well comphrehensive program.
Crazy Taylor: Carlos has been using the tape to three months. Today, he is back lifting weights.
Carlos Villamizar: To get back in the gym has been, it’s key to me.
Crazy Taylor: I’m Crazy Taylor reporting.
