How Often to Apply Sunscreen

Katie Anderson: Hi! This is Katie Anderson from Mission Viejo, California and I have a question. How often should sunscreen be applied?

Theresa Pacheco: Katie, as complicated as the topic of sunscreens are, there really only are four points you need to remember. For UVB protection, it's important that you used a SPF of 15 or greater. For UVA protection, it's important that you look for active ingredients like zinc oxide, titanium dioxide and Avobenzone.

It's important that when you apply sunscreen to your entire body, you use at least one ounce which is two tablespoons to the entire body. And then the last point, which is your question, how often should sunscreen be applied, you should apply sunscreen every two hours and after swimming or excessive sweating.
