How Often to Breastfeed a Baby

Host: How often should I breastfeed? Dr. Ann Kellams: Once the baby is born we recommend getting him on the breast in that first hour of life and then somewhere on the order of at least every two to three hours. If the baby is awake and actively interested in sucking and it has been one hour, go ahead and put him back on, but you don't want to have more than two or three hour gaps in that entire first 48 hour period.
