Ask Dan & Jennifer Sex, Love & Dating Advice And please rate our show Give us 5 stars Jennifer: Okay, on today’s 1 minute Q&A, a question we get a lot from the younger folks, how do old do you have to be to buy condoms in the store? Dan: You know, this is a tough one, well, actually it’s really simple, it’s really tough for me to see it coming up so much, to see kids having trouble buying condoms. You know they’re smart enough to know, hey I’m going to have sex I’ll buy condoms and sometimes–– I think that it’s so utterly and totally lame. Okay, the short answer is, we’re not aware of any, we are not aware. We haven’t been able to find any sort of legal restrictions for you buying condoms. And you know, if you go to a store and you see this big sign, I can’t buy cigarettes until I’m 18, I can’t buy booze until I’m 21. Jennifer: Or they’ll keep it behind the counter, no one under 18 allowed, right. Dan: All the legal signs are there or just behind the counter, I have never seen a, “You can’t buy condom until you’re 16 and a half son or some, yes, like that.” Jennifer: Not seen it. Dan: You know what, so if you can’t––or some guy at the cashier say you can’t buy that. He’s probably pushing his own moralistic judgment on you. And you know what, if some guys try to push you religious baggage on you, you know what, he’s not doing he’s job and he’s trying to do something that is not right to you. Jennifer: Take your business elsewhere. Dan: You know what, drop it. Forget it. Don’t buy anything else there. Go away from that store. Go somewhere else, go to a bigger store, go to Wal Mart or something, go to a bigger store where there are a lot more people and some guy can’t be the -- for condoms. That’s really what it comes down to. Jennifer: And I’m just curious, if you of any laws in your state or city that prevent it, I’d love to hear about it. Dan: I’ve yet, but yes, I’ve never seen or heard of a sign that says, “Must be 16 and a half to buy condoms.”
