Ron: My name is Ron Hulse, I’m the vice president of wireless and IT products for Samsung Canada. Our global vision in Samsung is to do business in a way that enriches the planet. Our green management policy sets some of the highest environmental standard for workplace operations, energy efficient designs, manufacturing processes, and eWaste recycling. Our views are reflected in our products, Samsung is setting the pace in innovative ecosensitive product launches. And, according to Greenpeace, their latest guide to green electronics, Samsung is now move in to the second position among global manufacturers going relatively well on all categories. So the Star program is Samsung’s take back and recycle program, it’s basically a methodology that we created to recycle used toner cartridges at no cost to a consumer, they can just take their used cartridge, put it back in the original packing, take out the mail in address leaf and send to our recycling facility. Where we break it down into its subcomponents and sold them to commodity market. TIP is Samsung’s trade in program, T-I-P, and really what it is, is a way to bring back an old printer and have it created discount for a new printer. So we give you an allowance when you bring it back. It’s common to do toner cartridge recycling, this is a little less common to do printer, full print machine recycling, and that’s what this program intended to do. Samsung is helping Canadians live greener lifestyle, that’s really what it starts with, and even if you start with our product designer, eco fit line of monitors, they’re basically designed without volatile organic compounds of any type which makes them easier to recycle at the end of their useful life. And they’re design to be operated at a lower energy draw. Our brand new LED/LCD TVs operate at a 40 percent lower energy draw than any other LCD TV in the market place. Our home appliances carry the Energy Star certification, so the washers and dryers, the fridges and the stoves all are the lowest energy draw devices in their market place today, which is a fantastic thing for a consumer to know, who maybe suffers for a little bit of green guilt about what products to buy. And even if you look at our cellphones, our cellphones are made of recycled plastics, some of them are even being constructed out of corn based materials, so when it comes to the final disposal of those products, they’re easy to break down and easy to recycle. We feel it’s our responsibility to make the planet a better place, we see where the dots connect that if you look at how you recycle, you look at the energy efficiency in your product, you’re contributing to a healthier workplace environment, you’re ultimately contributing to lower cost. Because of those component pieces go back into the supply chain and the manufacturing cycle, you actually are not taking valuable natural resources out of the world. You’re not doing things unnatural to dispose them, you’re not misusing energy. It’s really our goal to contribute to a better life and a better world for our children and our children’s children.
