Dave: Hi, I am Dave Epstein. Welcome to Growing Wisdom and I am here on a Coyote Tractor at New England, Grow Show in Boston and you know, you might wonder where those folks who mow your lawn or if you go to a greenhouse. If you go to a landscape place.
Where do they get all of there equipment? Where do they get there plants? Will it act shows like this and this particular tractor, it is absolutely beautiful. They tell me that nearly 85% of these big pieces of equipment are actually owned by homeowners. So, if you had 38 acres, you might want one of this or if you had someone come to your house to do some works. They might have one of this as well.
Now, there is a lot of other stuff besides bigger equipment. They have got a lot of plants. We have got ornaments. You have got new irrigation. You got all the irrigation. You got soil. You got fertilizer. Just a ton of stuff to see. So, who would come here.
Well, you got arbors, you got people who want to upgrade there pesticides, licenses. We have got folks that owned businesses that will come here so, that when you go to a local store. You actually see some of the products that they look at and they have determined that those products are great for there audience. You have your own garden center business. So, tell me why do you come to a place like this?
Male 1: Basically, to see all the new items that their were out there. There is a lot new of different things in the industry and we try to stay on top that.
Male 2: It is a nice place just to meet some of the people that are here and established some contacts that we do not normally make in person.
Dave: Vendors are even here, showing there latest tools that may show up in your local nursery.

Dave: So, homeowners.
Male 3: Well, Coyote CK20 is a small agricultural tractor. We find primarily light landscaping in homeowners tend to buy this. Its got a thousand-pound load capacity. You can do anything from bulk molester to remove snow, move rocks in a yard, you can have a backhoe to the back, so you got a diesel powered wheelbarrow in a shovel on the back and your good to go.
Male 4: If you guys watch me regularly, you know how much I love the hammer molester which hazel the spring blooming one. They have got this blooming inside right now. Just spectacular and there is plenty of interesting items that your local gardens centers will come to a show like this and begin to select.
Dave: We are trying to explain to the public, how this kind of work. So, they go to a garden center and then they buy a plant. But that plant may not have been grown at the garden center since it was a little baby, right.
Male 4: That is correct. Well, this right here is in plug. We call it a plug simple because it pulls out of the tray that we grow it in and then, a green house drawer would take this and put it into there pot and grow it on, and then Mr. Consumer would come along and but that and put it on the ground.
Dave: And how many plants, just give us a rough idea. How many of these little plugs will end up going?
Male 4: We will ship out about a $120 million.
Dave: Wow! So, here you are your homeowner and you have a got a new lawn that you want put it in and then, they come out and they hydroseeding it. Everyone that wear that big tank thing on the back of a truck comes from it, might come from you guys, right.
Male 5: That is correct.
Dave: So, tell me about this the contraption here.
Male 5: Okay, basically they make two different types of hydroseeding systems. They make a get Agitated type that make uses the pump to make the liquids in the Hydro Mulch, and they also have a paddle agitated machine that uses the paddle to make a some liquids. And you can get the Hydro Mulch which is in either in granular form or it comes in a full pump act bell.
Basically, you just put the bells into the machine and mix it with seed and fertilizer and after the machine is done. Make thing you jus spay it on the lawn. A lot of the highway departments will use the machines to spray along the sides of the highways to put a grass of ground covered on the choke our weeds and things like that.
Dave: That is kind of neat, so in this environment of putting down native. You could put a native wild meadow in this, that is native to Massachusetts or native to Texas and spray it down and there you go, you have a native meadow and you have got actually done some great for the environment.
So, hope you enjoy your tour of New England Grows. It is kind of fashion show for the green industry. It is the inside look that what goes on. So, when you are buying products and your favorite nursery, this is where they get them from and you know what, there is a lot to see and I am going to see it. Come back every week for all of our tips here at growingwisdom.com.
